It's been forever since there have been reports of a biopic on Kalpana Chawla have been doing the rounds. And of course with this, come the speculations of who will be starring in this mega project. It seems that the search has ended and the leading actress for the film has been finalized. Hold your breaths because the actress who will be portraying Kalpana Chawla on the big screen is none other than our very own Desi Girl!

Yes, it’s official! Priyanka Chopra will be seen playing astronaut Kalpana Chawla and not astronaut Rakesh Sharma’s wife as it was earlier reported in a section of the press. Speaking about the film, an informed source told the media, “Well, there was some interest from her side. Because she hasn’t ever worked with Aamir Khan, and won’t be allowed to work with Salman Khan (who for reasons best known to him) or with Shah Rukh Khan (whom she cannot work with for reasons we can’t go into right now). But when Priyanka realized that the role of Rakesh Sharma’s wife was sketchy she lost interest.”

It is then that Priyanka deciding of not only signing the Kalpana Chawla biopic but also co-producing it with Viacom 18. Priyanka has earlier impressed us with her portrayal of boxer Mary Kom and we'll have to wait to see what she brings to the table with this one!
