The Hindi film industry has not had the best start in 2025, but OTT platforms are promising to bring some exciting content to revive cinema. In this direction, Netflix held a press conference on Monday, February 3rd, revealing a glimpse of the films and web series that will be available on its platform this year. Let’s take a look at what’s coming to Netflix:

Aap Jaisa Koi: A Romantic Drama Karan Johar's company, Dharma Productions, is bringing the heartwarming romantic story "Aap Jaisa Koi," along with Ibrahim Khan’s film " Nadaaniyan'," to Netflix. The story focuses on two unique individuals, Shrirenu Tripathi and Madhu Bose, exploring their romantic journey. Karan Johar explains, "This romantic drama brings together two opposites in a beautiful love story. The characters, played by R. Madhavan as Shrirenu and Fatima Sana Shaikh as Madhu, embark on a journey full of unexpected twists and heartfelt moments. We are excited to offer this story a home on Netflix and share it with audiences worldwide."

Produced under the banner of Dharma Productions by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra, the film is directed by Vivek Soni. The main cast includes R. Madhavan and Fatima Sana Shaikh.

Dhoom Dham: A Thrill Ride of Action, Romance, Comedy, and Chaos On his wedding night, a scared mama’s boy and a brave wild child find themselves running from ruthless goons. In the midst of a chaotic night, they stumble upon love and chaos while searching for the elusive Charlie! The team behind "Dhoom Dham" says, "We’re excited to launch 'How Are You' in collaboration with Panorama Music. 'Dhoom Dham' is an energetic rollercoaster of action, romance, comedy, and chaos. The teaser with the song 'Pagalwan' featuring Yami Gautam Dhar and Pratik Gandhi sets the perfect mood, and their magic on screen will leave the audience thrilled."

Produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Aditya Dhar, and Lokesh Dhar under the banner of Jio Studios and B62 Studios, the film is directed by Rishabh Seth, who also co-wrote the script with Aditya Dhar and Arsh Vora. Jewel Thief: The Heist of the African Red Sun A powerful criminal hires a jewel thief to steal the world’s most mysterious diamond, the African Red Sun. What starts as a perfectly planned heist takes a wild turn, throwing chaos, unexpected alliances, and betrayals into the mix. Siddharth and Mamta Anand, the producers, say, "We’re thrilled to start streaming 'Jewel Thief - The Heist Begins' with Netflix. Nadaaniyan: Ibrahim Khan and Khushi Kapoor’s Debut Film Renowned filmmaker Karan Johar, known for redefining romance in films like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, is back with Nadaaniyan. This modern romance tells the story of a young couple's love journey. However, Karan is not directing this one; instead, Shona Gautam takes on the role of director. The film will be streamed on Netflix this year.

The story revolves around a South Delhi diva who enlists a middle-class overachiever as her fake boyfriend to save herself from an embarrassing situation. But when real emotions emerge, can they handle the messy mix of love and lies?

Karan Johar shares, "Our film Nadaaniyan explores modern romance in a world driven by digital interactions. We’re excited to offer this fresh love story on Netflix, where audiences from all over the world can experience it." Test: When Life Takes the Ultimate Test Set against the backdrop of a historic cricket match, three people’s worlds collide, forcing them to confront life-changing decisions. The team behind Test shares, "Life is a game! Test is a story that reflects the drama of life and the challenges we face, with the intensity of the sport mirroring our own struggles. We are thrilled to have an ensemble of highly respected actors like R. Madhavan, Nayanthara, Siddharth, Meera Jasmine, and others bringing depth and emotion to their characters."

Toaster: Actress  Patralekha's Debut as Producer

In recent years, the trend of actors transitioning into film production has been on the rise. Actresses like Anushka Sharma, Deepika Padukone, Kriti Sanon, and several others have already tasted the experience of filmmaking. Now, actress Patralekha has joined this league with her debut production, "Toaster," which is streaming on Netflix. In the film, Patralekha has not only worked with other talented actors but has also cast her husband, actor Rajkummar Rao, in a pivotal role.

The story of "Toaster" revolves around a miserly man who becomes fixated on a toaster gifted to him for his wedding. This obsession leads to a series of murders and chaos. Patralekha shared her excitement, saying, "Becoming a producer for the first time has been a thrilling experience. The screenplay is written by Parvez Sheikh, with Akshat Gildiyal and Anagh Mukherjee handling the dialogues. Co-produced by Tarun Bali, the film stars Rajkummar Rao, Sanya Malhotra, Archana Puran Singh, Abhishek Banerjee, Farah Khan, Upendra Limaye, Vinod Rawat, Jeetendra Joshi, and Seema Pahwa in significant roles.

Web Series "Akka: Story of Gangster Queens"

"Akka" is a woman-centric web series set against the backdrop of a matriarchal society in South India in the 1980s. The story is based in the fictional town of Parnuru, where a powerful woman reigns supreme. The series tells the story of gangster queens whose matriarchal rule is challenged by an external force. The new threat turns their world into a violent storm of chaos and betrayal.

" Dabba Cartel: A Unique Path in the Drug Trade" 

" Dabba Cartel" is an upcoming web series on Netflix, premiering on February 25, 2025. The story is centered around VIVA Life Society, where men and women lead parallel lives. However, a pharmaceutical investigation reveals the widespread drug cartel flourishing through a " Dabba delivery" business.

The producers of the series, Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar of Excel Media and Entertainment, expressed their excitement, saying, "Collaborating with Netflix on ‘DabbaCartel' marks an exciting new chapter for us. The series tells a dramatic story of how middle-class women unknowingly start a drug cartel that ultimately gets entangled in a major pharma scandal. At Excel, we strive to tell stories that push creative boundaries, and ' Dabba Cartel' is a true reflection of that vision. We can't wait for audiences to experience this compelling and dynamic narrative globally."

Web Series: Kohrra Season 2: A Complex Matter
