As per the reports of some leading daily Padmavati's release might be delayed and rescheduled to January 12 of next year.

CBFC had sent Sanjay Leela Bhansali-directed Padmavati back to the makers as the application for the certification was 'incomplete'. The CBFC also expressed their disappointment with the makers of the film for arranging special screenings of the controversial film for journalists when the Board itself was yet to view or certify it.

In a statement given to media CBFC's chairperson, Prasoon Joshi expressed his disappoinment,

“Disappointing that the film Padmavati is being screened for the media and getting reviewed on national channels without CBFC having seen or certified the Film. This compromises the role of systems and balances that are part of a functioning industry. It’s myopic to treat the certification process haphazardly to suit convenience,” Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) chief Prasoon Joshi said in a statement.

In his statment, Joshi also added about the incomplete paperwork by the makers and blaming censor board,

“In this specific case, the film’s application came up this week only for review. The makers know and admit that the paperwork is not complete — the very disclaimer whether the film is work of fiction or a historical was left blank and not stated — and on simply and legitimately being asked to provide important documents, target the CBFC for” looking the other way and delay. This truly is surprising.”

The release of Padmavati was also likely to be pushed ahead in view of the forthcoming elections in Gujarat, over alleged 'distortion of facts'.

On the other side, the makers of Padmavati on Friday denied speculation that the release of the SLB's epic drama is being postponed.

"Rumours of postponement of Padmavati are baseless," tweeted Ajit Andhare, Chief Operating Officer, Viacom18 Motion Pictures. The banner has co-produced Padmavati with Bhansali Productions, and it will distribute the film in India.

Meanwhile, senior journalists and television hosts Arnab Goswami and Rajat Sharma also watched Padmavati yesterday. Both of them have stated that the film doesn’t have a single objectionable sequence. They also specifically stated that there is no dream sequence between the characters of Padmavati and Alauddin Khilji.

India TV quoted Rajat Sharma saying, " After watching the entire film, I can emphatically say that there is not a single dialogue, not a single scene, not a single sequence that can be said to go against the proud history of the Rajputs of Rajasthan."

"Sanjay Leela Bhansali has directed the film after conducting full research. While filming the scenes and sequences, he has kept in mind the need to respect the Rajput traditions and etiquette. There has been no distortion of history in the entire film. I sincerely feel that the valour of Maharaja Rawal Ratan Singh, the strategic mind of Queen Padmavati, their bravery and sacrifice have been correctly portrayed in Bhansali's film", Sharma added to his statement.

Massive protests are carried by certain fringe groups demanding a ban on Padmavati. But as of now, the film that stars Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor in leading roles is expected to release as scheduled on December 1, 2017.
