PADMAVATI’S RELEASE DATE HAS BEEN PUSHED

Padmavati has been mired in controversies for over a year now and amidst all the speculations the co-producers of Padmavati have officially deferred the release date. The film was expected to hit the theaters on December 1st and the production house shall now announce the new date in ‘due course’ of time.
The statement also reasserts that the film has only captured ‘Rajput valor, dignity and tradition’ and has in no way tried to belittle the community.

This came just a while after the CBFC returned the application of the film sighting it incomplete. The insiders, however, say that the final nail in the coffin came in the form of the film’s private screening for select journalists that was organized late Friday evening. This gesture didn’t go down really well with the Chairman, Prasoon Joshi.
A source revealed to Mid-Day-
“The filmmaker had kept a special screening for select channel heads, who then went ahead to vouch for the film and how it doesn’t hurt religious sentiments. This left many at CBFC annoyed. Prasoon Joshi [CBFC chief] too lashed out at the filmmaker for screening a movie that was yet to receive a censor certificate.”
The Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, and Shahid Kapoor starrer film have faced a lot of accusations regarding distorting Rajput History and have been subject to vandalism by the Rajput Karni Sena. We wish the team all the very best and hope the new date is announced soon!
