Pankaj Udhas to 10 Songs List

Vilasrao Deshmukh loved the songs of Pankaj Udhas. Once these two met at a function. Pankaj Udhas performed a few songs at the event and later met Vilasrao Deshmukh in the green room at the back of the Pankaj Udhas stage. During this meeting, they also had a nice chat. At that moment Vilasrao Deshmukh had told Pankaj Udhas that he was a fan of Pankaj Udhas' songs. And Vilasrao asked... "Pankajji have you got Padma Shri?"But Pankaj Udhas ignored Vilasrao's question. They made no sense. A few days later, Pankaj Udhas was awarded the Padma Shri on the eve of Independence Day in 2006 for completing 25 years of his career and for his support to organizations working for cancer victims.Interestingly, Pankaj Udhas knew nothing about this.

When one of his friends called to congratulate him,

Pankaj was shocked and said,

"Congratulations for what?"

The friend had told him that he had been declared Padma Shri.

He was overjoyed to hear this news. And at that time Pankaj Udhas understood Vilasrao Deshmukh's question.

Pankaj ji still says that he got the Padma Shri only because Vilasrao took notice of the work.
