‘Patalia Babes Has A Very Different Perspective’: Paridhi Sharma

You are making a comeback on television after a huge gap. How are you feeling and how did this role come to you?

Paridhi Sharma: If I had to come back on TV, it would only be with a show that looks very refreshing to me and to the audience. I am feeling very happy and excited to face the camera once again after a long gap.  I had been looking for an appropriate fiction script and after reading Patiala Babes, my body and my soul wanted to be a part of it. Acting is my passion and it feels good to live my passion. Initially, I was bit apprehensive as I had to play a mother’s role. But, when I sat for the narration and heard the story, I was completely sold out as the content is fascinating and something everyone can relate to. Every actor has a dream of doing performance oriented roles and I am glad to have accepted this role and be a part of Patalia Babes.

Tell us about your role?

Paridhi Sharma: Patalia Babes is a journey of Babita to Babes. It is a story which will connect to every woman out there. She is a house wife who has aced her duties of a wife. She has taken up the responsibility of her house and keeping everyone at home happy. She is a stoic, underconfident woman. While her daughter give her the push to pursue her talent, her fear of what people will think brings her down.

It is indeed a beautiful story of mother and daughter and a journey of how a dauther will give wings to her mother.

You are a mother now. Did you find it easy to develop and emotional bond for your reel like character?

Paridhi Sharma: Had this show come to me before I became a mother I don’t think I would have been able to feel the emotions so strongly. For any actor to play Babita, it is very important to know how a mother feels and how she would react to her child. This character is written with love about the most important person in our lives, “A Mother”. There are moments when even I am moved by the way Babita thinks. Honestly if I have a daughter in the future I would love the have the same bonding that this mother daughter duo share.

In your previous show, you wore heavy jewellery and clothes and your attire in Patali Babes is exactly the opposite. Tell us something about that?

Paridhi Sharma: (Giggles…) This is a big relief for me! I had to wear such heavy costumes and jewellery because my role demanded it. Whereas Patalia Babes has a very different perspective about a mother and her daughter. It’s a very simple and homely look with no makeup and no jewellery. It’s just the same look we keep in our homes or in our personal space.

How is the experience till now shooting for Patalia Babes?

Paridhi Sharma: The story is about the relationship of mother and her daughter and how she gives wings to her mother to showcase her hidden talent and prove herself in front of the world. We shot for a promo where Mini (Ashnoor) is teaching me how to ride a scooty but in reality, it was the other way around. Ashnoor is a brilliant actress and a very good co-actor.

You have worked with Anirudh Dave earlier. So how is it working with him again?

Paridhi Sharma: He is extremely talented! It’s really good to work with him once again. We never used to talk much but I know that he is a thorough professional. I am definitely looking forward to work with him.

Ashnoor is a Punjabi girl. Did you take any tips from her for your character?

Paridhi Sharma: Ashnoor is a very sweet girl. She keeps giving me tips and helps me het the right Punjabi accent. For instance, in Punjabi ‘Mini’ is pronounced as ‘Minni’ which Ashnoor noticed and taught me. Likewise I’ll keep taking tips from her as they are always welcome.

Any message for your Fans?

Paridhi Sharma: I wants to thank my fans as I am overwhelmed and thrilled. It’s been a long since ive faced the camera and as the saying goes, ‘If you are out of sight, you are out of mind.’ But my fans never let me feel like that, they keep messaging me continuously and wanted to see me back on Television. I feel an unconditional love from my fans. I hope they’ll keep pouring the same love for my new show and my new character.

Patiala Babes starts from 27th Nov Mon-Fri, 9pm only on Sony Entertainment television
