PATI PATNI KE RISHTE PAR BANAAYE HUYE KAHI FILME , KUCH JAANE ,KUCH ANJAANE

The relationship between a husband and wife has been a subject for discussion and debate for years , but divorce was made an issue that led to a law only in the 50's in India - Ali Peter John

And like every other controversial subject, divorce also became a common subject for the making of films in every language, but mostly in Hindi .

The subject has been treated in many ways by many directors, but I can remember only the films that have appealed to me .

I would not go into the details of the films, but the titles themselves can give you an Idea about the films which dealt with the delicate subject of the relationship between husbsnd and wife .

I give you the titles. If you have already seen the films , well and good , if not you must see them sometime to learn more about the delicate relationship and how it can affect families , the state and ultimately even the world.

TALAAQ- The first time a serious film about a misunderstanding between a husband and wife was told in this film made in 1958.

Rajendra Kumar, who was making his beginning as an actor and Kamini Kadam played the lead roles.

It was directed by Mahesh Kaul and was appreciated by the critics and the audience alike.

There were other films based on the same subject with titles like Talaaq made again Talaaq Talaaq Talaaq and "Divorce "

There were other films made by leading filmmakers like B R Chopra who made "Nikaah" and "Pati Patni aur Woh" , made with a touch of comedy

Some of the Hindi films made in the south like Judaai and "Ek Hi Bhool " were based on the same kind of subjects and were also very big hits.

One of the most intense films made about the relationship between a husband and wife was "Arth" made by Mahesh Bhatt, with intense performances by Shabana Azmi , Smita Patil, Kulbhushan Kharbanda and Raj Kiran .

Gulzar made "Aandhi" which was roughly based on the relationship between Mrs Indira Gandhi and Feroze Gandhi.

The film had a rough time with the censors because of the close resemblance to the real lives of Mr and Mrs Gandhi but it was finally cleared by the censors and is remembered as one of the better known films with a political backdrop and with the focus on the husband and wife relationship.

Suchitra Sen made a comeback in Hindi films and did a great job as the film version of Mrs Gandhi and Sanjeev Kumar as usual in all the films of Gulzar was outstanding to say the least.

In the 70's , there were films like "Aap ki Kasam" , "Thodi Si Bwafaai" and "Agar Tum Na Hote" which succeeded in doing justice to a sensitive subject.

For the 2 decades ( from the 80's to 2000) there were good films like Paheli, Chalte Chalte and Saathiya which were modern films based on the age old subject of the man woman relationship.

To think of it , the subject is still as fresh as the headlines it makes in the media, print , electronic and social media.

As I write this piece there are at least a dozon films being made on what I call a suject that can never end as long as human beings and their relationships are a part of life. And break ups and separations grow into a way of life.

SHAADI EK AISA BANDHAN HAI JO SAMAAJ KO ZINDAA RAKHNE KE LIYE BAHOT ZAROORI HAI .

SHAADI KE BANDHAN MEIN ULJHANE TO HOTI RAHEGI , LEKIN ZINDAGI KE LIYE ULJHANO KO SULJHANA ZAROORI HI NAHI HAI , BALKI ZINDAGI KO ZINDAA RAKHNE KAA EK SULJHAA HUAA TARIKAA HAI.

TOH BHAIYO AUR BEHNO , ISS RISHTE KAA MAZAAQ MAT KIJIYE, YEA RISHTAA HUM SAB KE LIYE AUR AANEWAALE ZAMAANE KE LIYE ZAROORI HAI.

SOCHO SOCHO , ISSE PAHELE KI TUM KOYI JALDI MEIN KOYI AASI HARQAT KAR BAITHO , JISK LIYE TUMKO ZINDAGI BHAR PACHTAANAA PADE.
