At a  time, when commercially viable  funky remixes and bhangra-pop with a dash of erotica are the order of the day ( read music-biz) it is commendable that young composer Rohansh Pandit , son of eminent Bollywood composer Lalit  (of Jatin-Lalit fame) has chosen to make his composing debut with a daring deviation  ! Weaving peace with music Rohansh Pandit makes his grand musical composing debut with  a heart-rending  music-video  “Say No To War”  -Chaitanya Padukone

The soul-stirring visuals gets elevated by  awesome vibrant vocals by  classical & Bollywood playback singer Javed Ali  and the South sensation Andrea Jeremiah ( singer-actress) The  inspiring-lyrics  are written mainly by acclaimed  multi-talented creative maverick lyricist-poet Rahul B. Seth ( also a singer-music composer voice-actor and writer) .

In keeping with solemn theme of “non-violence and world peace””  the video was formally launched by  the erudite and articulate legend Javed-saab Akhtar  who was the ‘chief guest’. The other prominent guests of honour  comprised  Priya (Sunil) Dutt, singers  Shaan and Alka Yagnik, composer-singer  Bappa Lahiri, actress-singer Vijayeta Pandit, director Kawal Sharma,  Ramesh Taurani, Sameer Anjaan, Nitin Mukesh and Viveck Vaswani. While on the stage,  all of them complimented and blessed Rohansh and shared their emotional sentiments of their association with Rohansh’s parents  talented Lalit Pandit and his dynamic wife Meena Pandit.

The confident Rohansh  describes his enthralling  song as “a genuine attempt to dissolve violence; may it be of any kind and spread awareness by using the language of non violence- which is music. An anthem that reaffirms the futility of wars and highlights the fact that no side emerges victorious in a war, and that destruction and devastation is the only outcome. The song is also a ray of hope for anyone across the globe facing the aftermath of war- making them believe that they are not alone. The world stands with them. “It is the voice of the people, I’ve just given it a melody. It is not my song alone, it is for everyone who resonates with this feeling,” *says Rohansh Pandit.

Praising Rohansh’s talent Javed-saab Akhtar said to me,   “ This daring initiative to compose brilliantly for an inspiring anti-war theme  demands creative dedication and a sense of maturity. I am impressed with young Rohansh’s potential. Peaceful negotiation –is the only solution to stop and prevent wars and  in turn prevent colossal  loss of life and to property.” said Javed-saab who incidentally has written the FIlmfare award-winning  sensitive lyrics for this 1997 patriotic Hindi epic war-film ‘Border’.

As if to silence detractors and envious elements, the dedicated Rohansh who has received intense training in music, insists “that his foray into the world of music was not a flash-in-the-pan decision, but it’s his passion & love for the craft of music which is the prime factor that attracts him to be a part of the prestigious Bollywood Music Fraternity,”  Explaining his intense attachment to musical creativity, Rohansh says, Music is like meditation for me. It is an integral part of shaping me into the person I am and has a vital role to play in my upbringing. I’ve been lucky enough to be exposed to different forms of music early on in life through my family and have been able to witness the art in the true sense of it. As an artist, I’m my most honest and true self while making music. I get the opportunity to express what I feel without any layers. There’s no better feeling than knowing you created something that did not exist in the world when you woke up this morning”, smiles Rohansh, whose illustrious Bollywood composer father Lalit Pandit ( with his brother- partner Jatin Pandit) has created  dozens  of immortal filmy melodies for  iconic movies like ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge‘ , ‘ Kuch Kuch Hota Hai,  Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, ‘Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman’, ‘Ghulam’ and of course ‘Fanaa’.

Highly acclaimed singer and reality-show judge Javed Ali says, “It’s my pleasure to work with Rohansh who belongs to a legendary musical family who will carry Jatin- Latin’s legacy forward. It was an honour to record Rohansh’s debut song. I wish them all the best & success for Say No To War & their future projects”    Southside westernized vivacious singer-actress Andrea Jeremiah enthuses,  “Music is the greatest healer, and right now, the world needs healing. This is a brave mature yet wonderful initiative by Rohansh and I’m so glad he asked me to be a part of it. I wish him a long & successful career ahead“
