With a towering height like that of the late filmmaker Satyajit Ray, Priyanshu Chatterjee, who is playing the lead in writer-director Anees Barudwakle’s Comedy Ka Tadka opposite Arjumann Moghul, who had earlier made her debut with Ya Rab is having a fond hope that some filmmaker will notice him, whether in Kolkata or for that matter in Bollywood and offer to make a biopic on the late filmmaker with Priyanshu Chatterjee in the titular role. Says Priyanshu, “I did not look at my debut film Tum Bin as a successful attempt. I only thought of it as an acceptance to my presence in films. I took it as a learning curve because I did not know the rules of Bollywood as such. As an actor in today’s film industry, whether it is the Bengali film industry or for that matter Bollywood, there is absolutely no room at all for experiment of any kind. I’d love to be parts of biopics of people who were not basically heroic, but ended up being heroic because of the circumstances. It would be proud privilege and a great honor to be called upon to play the role of the late Satyajit Ray in a biopic on him.” Priyanshu is currently busy with two more films besides Comedy Ka Tadka. They are Little Baby, a film by Sudhanshu Shekhar Jha who had directed Wedding anniversary with Nana Patekar and Priyanshu Chatterjee and an untitled production by Vidhu Vinod Chopra who is staging a comeback as not only a producer but also a director after a long period of gap. It is a vibrant movie on Kashmir which is being shot in the migrant camps of Kashmir.”
