Excerpts-

Your role in Kuttey is interesting. What were your reactions, mouthing your dialogues which have cuss words?

Whenever you approach any character, you will have to remove the perception of Radhika. If you start judging the character ten you will never be able to become the character. You need empathy for performing any character. When you get into the character then you have enough reason to feel that you like the character itself. It's then nothing that pricks you at all. Mouthing cuss words you don’t feel as if it’s a Gaali.Radhika is different so I don’t judge any character that I perform.

Did you feel nervous while performing this kind of a character?

I don’t know what it is within me that no sooner I embark on the sets I become the character and don’t  bother about anything in and around me.I just switch on and get into the skin of the character. This happened the first time when I was working with Irfan sir. I felt he is my Baba. And not Irfan sir. I realized this while watching the trailer. The same happened to me in Kuttey. In this film I am so fortunate to be working with all veterans in this film, but I just felt them in their respective character while performing with them on a scene. So, I never felt nervous. You just want to work and live your character

While working with Irfan you may have learned that you may have been included in your craft?

I learned one thing from Irfan sir-Never stop being a student. I remember there was a very important scene. At about 12 P.M in the night I see a shadow. I saw Irfan sir pacing up and down with his script in his hand. I was wondering why he should rehearse. He was nervous and excited and it's then I realized he has not stopped being a student for his craft. He was still scared and found ways to better his craft. This I have taken from him, no matter where I reach, I shall never stop being a student.

How was it working in Kuttey with all the veteran actors?

In this film Kuttey I got to learn from everyone as they are icons in their own way. I realized one thing common in every actor working with me in Kuttey that is –Security in themselves and in their art. Whenever you are a secure individual your ego will never come your way. Working with Tabu, Konkana and Naseer sir I never felt they had any starry vibes. This I noticed is common in all of them. During breaks we would sit down and chat, and also share food together. It was a family kind of a feeling.

Having worked with Naseeruddin Shah and Irfan? What similarities did you notice in both of them?

I feel both are very strong in their craft. When they come on the set, they keep a space for something unknown to happen. They are not rigid in their craft.

This film is commercial. Do you feel your character in Kuttey is commercially very prominent?

I felt the same in Shiddat as I got the vibes of being a heroine. In this having worked with veterans which I always realize after watching the trailer. I don’t worry about my looks while working. We do categorize but whenever I approach a film I don’t keep it in a bracket. I just want to live different lives through my character hence I have become an actor. Whatever character attracts me and I do it.It can be

Do you agree your generation is lucky nowadays filmmakers don’t typecast actors?

Maybe the same actors are not saying yes to similar roles…actors are being courageous. I feel it's both ways.

Have you ever said no to any character you may have been offered?

Saying no! I have been associated with good producers and directors.  I have said no sometimes, also because if my heart and soul  doesn’t wish to do any particular role, I don’t like to take  and take it up half-heartedly.  I don’t want to do injustice to any role. I’m lucky I am being repeated. But your job gets tougher when the same filmmaker repeats you.You can’t take it for granted. You have to prove yourself and put in more effort.
