Raghav Kansal did a cameo role in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. The actor-director, who is quite new to the field, shares how it all started and how it has been so far. He also shares about his directorial, ‘A Day In Our Lives’ that he released on Instagram.
“I belong to a middle-class family. During my early days, I wanted to be a cricketer but due to an injury, I could not pursue it any further. I did my schooling from Dehradun,” he continues, “In fact, my mom really wanted me to pursue acting as she saw a lot of plays I did in school and college. After completing school I also got ambitious about it as the more I did it, the more happy I felt.”
Raghav has a diploma in acting from Barry John Acting Studio and has three years of theatre experience. “I did various workshops with Vidhushi Mehra, Happy Ranjit, Atul Mongia, and more. I also did a few TV ads for brands like Tide, Super4 etc,” he (Raghav Kansal) shares.
If not an actor, Raghav Kansal would have become a businessman as it runs in his blood. “As an actor, I believe each role brings its vulnerable side, a lot of attributes and ambitions. So I would love to take on the majority of the roles I can play out there,” he adds.
Many are of the opinion that having good looks means half the battle won. “No, I am a firm believer of art and in acting I feel the art and craft speaks the most. I believe good appearance is like an additional skill very similar to knowing a lot of languages or maybe dance or martial arts. My career goal is to be able to act at the highest level and contribute to the performing arts society and entertain the entire nation,” he says.
Happy with his experience of working in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, he adds, “It was a wonderful experience. I went straight from the theatre to do it, so it taught me a lot and the whole unit, especially my co-actors, were really helpful and kind.”
Interestingly, he directed a mini reel show called “A Day In Our Lives” on Instagram. It has earned a good response online.
“After hearing a lot of conversations regarding entertainment in minutes, reels did fascinate me. And, I always used to wonder what all I can bring to the table which is still not provided to the ultimate audiences. So the idea came up and I worked on it with my aspiring team,” he smiles adding, “The response has been amazing. We were expecting a total viewership of 200 thousand but instead it went over 2.5 million. We are very happy (smiles again).”
Are you coming up with a second season of the web show? Agreeing, he adds, “Season 2 is very close to us as a team as a lot of hard work has been put into it. What makes it so special is that we have been able to cover all the emotions this generation feels too in a very limited time and in screen space. The one-of-a-kind quality is that in under 15 minutes, one will be able to complete a full-fledged series in just that much time,” he ends.
