“During the monsoon season, the primary focus of my clothing choices is to ensure they are lightweight and breathable fabrics such as cotton and linen. This selection allows me to stay comfortable and dry quickly in case of rain. I usually wear cotton short skirts, sarees, kurtis, classic linen or cotton trousers because of the humidity. These choices not only exude style but also provide practicality on rainy days. I also prefer comfy short dresses and incorporate various styles to suit my taste and mood. I pair these garments with accessories like scarves, dupattas, and lightweight jewellery to complete my monsoon look. These additions add a touch of elegance while ensuring functionality in case of rain. I opt for darker shades without worrying about visible stains in my clothing selections. Light pastel shades tend to highlight rain marks, making them less ideal for this season. Additionally, I prioritise the protection of my long hair from rainwater by wearing a scarf, which acts as a shield while adding a stylish element to my overall look.”

“Wearing ethnic clothes during the rainy season can be challenging compared to the ease of a typical t-shirt and pants combo. However, as a fan of ethnic wear, I customise my looks to suit the monsoon. For instance, I pair a kurta with cropped straight-fit pants or black leggings that hit just above the ankle. Opting for darker or brighter hues and a slightly relaxed silhouette complements my kurta. Keeping my style casual and light makes the best fashion statement for me. I also believe keeping the face hydrated during the monsoon is important, so I prefer light and powder-based makeup. The season also provides a great opportunity to relax on the balcony and enjoy a hot coffee while wearing comfortable attire. For this purpose, I find cotton cord sets or cosy night suits ideal for lounging at home. By making these adjustments, I can continue to enjoy ethnic wear while ensuring practicality and comfort in rainy weather. Also, don't let the rain ruin your favourite shoes when it comes to footwear. Invest in a pair of waterproof boots or stylish rain-friendly footwear. Classic rain boots in vibrant colours or trendy ankle boots with a waterproof coating can keep your feet dry while adding a fashionable touch to your overall look.”Vidisha Srivastava (Anita Bhabi, Bhabiji Ghar Par hai) monsoon fashion

“When planning your rainy-day outfit, select fabrics that can withstand moisture. Avoid materials like silk or suede, which rain can easily damage. Instead, use water-resistant or quick-drying fabrics like polyester, nylon, or treated cotton. These fabrics will keep you comfortable and stylish even in wet conditions. During the monsoon, my favourite season, I enjoy walking in the rain. Keeping the season in mind, I opt for practical yet fashionable wear consisting of cropped pants and crop tops, t-shirts paired with cotton shirts, tube tops matched with midi skirts, and wide-leg trousers. A scarf serves as a stylish accessory and protects my hair from rain. When it starts pouring, I quickly drape it around my neck and wrap it around my head. Rainy days often bring a gloomy atmosphere, so brighten things by incorporating vibrant colours into your outfit. Choose colourful raincoats, bold accessories, or colourful umbrellas to create a cheerful and eye-catching look. Not only will it uplift your mood, but it will also make a fashion statement amidst the grey skies. So, I always carry a colourful umbrella as an essential accessory throughout the monsoon. I opt for waterproof products for makeup, including sunscreen, waterproof mascara or eyeliner, and lip balm.”
