Rajesh Kumar is one to make sure to take out time for things that matter. The actor is also into mango farming and being part of a TV show doesn’t stop him from taking out time for it. “Hamari Bahu Silk doesn’t take up all of my time because I don’t have to work daily there. I am not into a regular feature of that serial, so I get a lot of time. This is why I picked up this show and so that my farming doesn't get affected because farming is very seasonal. Mango season comes every year and it needs a lot of attention,” he says. “Right now, I have rented out only two mango farms in Manor, near Mumbai itself. It is completely under surveillance to make sure that no urea or pesticide is used throughout the year. We use cow dung and cow urine, Jivamrit we call it and throughout the year we feed the plants with that so when the time comes, it just gives organic fruit and nothing else. So, no pesticide and no urea is there,”Rajesh says.

And what if someone wants to buy mangoes from his farm? “If anyone wants to buy mangoes from me then you can contact me on my mobile number itself. Actually, since the quality of mangoes is organic, the quantity on the trees become less but the fruit size is bigger than any other fruit you get in the market. If you see all the Alfonzo in the market, they are the same size, they look like a xerox of ordinary mangoes. But here, we have different sizes, so eat organic, be organic, live organic and eat healthily and be healthy. In fact, the actor urges everyone to go the organic way. “It's just a start, I am on a mission to change at least those people who come in contact with me to go the organic way. It’s very easy to be on this side and then accuse the person on the other side. So that is why I jumped on the other side to take all the responsibility and come up with the idea of farms which completely grow organic food. I am jumping into vegetables very soon as well, in another two-three months. It's important to change the eating behaviour of people that whatever you eat and make your children eat should be organic. I plan to join all other individual farmers who have small land holdings of one acre or 5 acres and collectively working towards one big goal of making India organic,” he says.
