Ravi Gossain Says A Character Is More Challenging When There Isn’t Much To Do In It

Ravi Gossain, who is seen in Mamta Patnaik's Ishq Mein Marjawan, loves being part of the show. The actor says that his character is very layered and he is getting to learn a lot from him. “The character is not physically strong, he has asthma but is a happy-go-lucky person. He is a very complex kind of a character and it's a very challenging role for me. The character is trying to teach his daughter not to compromise and work on things which makes her happy. A character is challenging when there's less to do in it as you have to do less and yet keep the audiences engaged,” he says.Talking about the kind of characters he enjoys playing, Ravi says, “I have done many different kinds of characters and I have enjoyed doing everything. My favourite on television has been the inspector I played in Madhubala. There should be something challenging where I don't be Ravi Gossain and be someone different. I love doing negative roles. Also, I played the character of an innocent guy in the film Jal and that one is also one of my favourite characters,” he says.

Ask him what he would like to advice budding actors, and he says, “I have met a lot of people when I go for auditions and recently I met a boy who had done his MBA. He said that he has seen my work. I asked him since he had done MBA, why was he here giving auditions? So, he said he just wanted to give it a try. To people like these, I want to say that acting is not a cake walk and that you should go for it only if you are passionate. It is an art that needs knowledge. There are natural actors but you should know your craft well.”The actor says that the way the industry works has changed a lot lately. “There is a big change, the way of working has changed now, it's more of a business. The departments have changed and many have been added which work differently. The system of casting has changed, it works sometimes in your favour and sometimes it doesn't. There is a lot of professionalism that has come in the system today,” he says.Meanwhile, the actor says that he loves working with the production house Beyond Dreams. “I know Yash A Patnaik since a long time. I had told him many times I wanted to work with him and now finally in Ishq Mein Marjawan, I got the opportunity to work with him.  He is a very nice human being and I am happy to work with him in this show,” he signs off.
