The countdown has begun for this realistic dacoits-drama thriller Hindi movie ‘Taanashah’ ( inspired by a true-life story) which is scheduled to release this Friday. Directed by the dynamic Ritam Srivastav ( who has assisted acclaimed film-maker Prakash Jha in some five movies including Rajneeti and Jai Gangaajal ) the movie has newcomer powerhouse theatre actor Dilip Arya who is cast as the dreaded ‘Daddu’-Daaku with talented stunning theatre actress Laura Lopamudra Mishra playing his dehati wife . Meanwhile, seasoned suave Bollywood actor Indraneel Bhattacharya ( last seen in striking roles in movies such as ‘Rustom’, ‘Fan’ and ‘Jai Gangaajal’ ) plays the menacing senior police officer S.P. Ajay Sinha, based on a real-life top-cop. Explains Indraneel, “My role was a challenge because in contrast to my real-life extrovert persona, I play a macho police officer who speaks very less. But he believes in shrewd scheming and planning and ambusing his target –dangerous daaku Daddu—who is hailed by the locals like a maseeha-Robinhood . The fast-paced, machismo movie ‘Taanashah’ with its theme of drama, vendetta and emotions is brutally realistic. Although there are fabulous folk-based peppy songs they are used only in the background. The movie-climax has a mind-blowing confronting gun-battle which used to be a highlight of retro Hollywood Western action-films,” shares Indraneel who, off-screen, is happily married to charming TV star-actress Anjali Mukhi. Incidentally, director Ritam disclosed to me, that he happens to be a former room-mate and a close buddy of maverick director Raj Mehta ( of ‘Good Newwz’ Hindi movie fame).
