Remembering Anand Bakshi Who Is Unforgettable

I don't know how law I knew him. I don't even know when I met him but I always believe that he is one of the men I knew best and our friendship was mutual. He was not a poet. He was not a shaayar. He was a man who knew how to express the feelings of another man, woman,child, society, the country, the armed forces, the spy, the moon and the stars, every flower and blade of grass. It is very difficult for me to write a few words about a man who wrote millions, billions and trillions of words, every world with a thought and a feeling with I remember every meeting with him. I remember how he felt very happy every time he saw me. I vividly remember how at his daughter's wedding reception, there was the entire industry and when I in my genes and rubber chappals walked up to the couple to wish them, he made a statement which still continues to shake me up was when he said,“Ali aagaya aur mujhe kya chahiye"? I met him a day before he died how he held my hand and said,“Ali, I don't want to die"but no one no God could save him because he was dead the next morning.

A few days before he finally left, he wrote this unpublished and unused poem which he presented to Subhash Ghai who couldn't think of working without. He knew he was dying, but read the poem below and you will know what the man and his undying spirit was all above. I present this poem to one and all on his seventeenth death anniversary.

Main koi barf nahi hoon Jo pighal jaunga

Main koi harf nahi hoon Jo badal jaunga.

Main saharon pe nahi khud pe yakin rakhta hun

Gir padunga toh huva kya main samhal jaunga.

Chand suraj ki tarah waqt pe nikalta hun main

Chand suraj ki tarah waqt pe dhal jaunga.

Khafile wale mujze chod Gaye hain peeche

Khafile walon se aage main nikal jaunga.

Main andhero Ko mita doonga chiragon ki tarah

Aag sine main laaga dunga main jal jaunga.

Husnn walon se guzarish hai ki parade kar lein

Main Dewaana hoon main ashiq hoon machal jaunga.

Rokh sakti hai muze rokh le duniya ‘Bakhshi’

Main toh jaadu hoon main jaadu hoon chala jaunga.

KYA TAAREEF KARU MAIN AAPKI BAKSHI SAHAB? AAP TOH TAAREEF KA MATLAB HI NAHI SAMAJHTE THE. AAP TOH SIRF WOH KARTE THE JISKE LIYE AAPKO KHUDA NE KUCH APNE HI JAISE BANAAYA THA AUR KHUDA KE JAISE HI AMAR AUR HAMESHA KE LIYE HAI AUR RAHENGE.
