Amongst the leading Bollywood music-directors who frequently incorporated World Music elements in the songs and background music-- it is Rahul Dev Burman , who gets pride-of-place , Besides being daringly innovative, Pancham-Da (that’s what R D Burman was fondly called) Commemorating the iconic and most loved music composer/ singer Rahul Dev Burman’s 84th Birth Anniversary, fondly known as Pancham Da, on 27th June, a very special and unique music-video tribute is paid to him, called “Rahul Remembers Rahul”
Interestingly, the music maestro was rarely mentioned by his real name "Rahul" . It was always either R.D.Burman or Pancham. ! Thus, the title "Rahul Remembers Rahul" !
This unique musical tribute to him is by Rahul B Seth, a music composer, singer, lyricist & international dubbing-voice artist. This is a fully non-commercial informal friendly collaboration with the ‘presenter’ veteran film and music journalist Chaitanya Padukone and author of the popular best seller “R.D.Burmania” who has also jammed in it by playing the bongo-drums. Also accompanying them is ace guitarist and musician Arpan Arekar.
It may be mentioned here that eminent film and music journalist Chaitanya Padukone shared a personal rapport with R D Burman from 1983 up to end 1993 (Ten years) and used to attend RDB’s recordings at Film Center and meet RDB at numerous film-parties and movie-premieres.
In the tribute Rahul Seth fondly reminisces about the time when he personally met Pancham Da many years ago and bonded with him over African Music, rhythm and artists.
Since Rahul Seth’s early childhood was spent in Zambia, Africa, he was greatly influenced by African music and the local artists.
It is this very facet of his, that Pancham da was quite elated to have discovered, especially when Rahul Seth sang an African song for him. They thus ended up discussing African singers and musicians at length.Plus, in his racy tribute, Rahul Seth has sung some unusual and popular racy and monsoon-centric (barsaat ka mausam) songs of Pancham Da But the highlight was the title-song of DD-1 TV show ‘Subah’ ( sung originally by Pancham-Da) which lyrically goes ‘Subah Ko Kar Salaam’ which will prove a thriller surprise for all RDB fans and retro-music lovers, when they watch the you-tube video shot by senior expert cameraman Ganesh Parida. .

Mahaan sangeetkaar (Pancham-da was fond of gazing at the rains and even recording the pitter-patter sounds of the rain-drops and sounds of thunder-storms .
