I always remember owing our freedom to them. One of my fondest memory is the one when I saw that my father was in tears while he was listening to patriotic songs .His emotions towards the country touched  me deeply . When I was young,  my family and I used to watch the Republic Day parade together. We watched the flag hoisting ceremony by the Prime Minister and listened to his speech that came live on TV. We also watched the parade rally displaying different states of India along with the cultures. The artists in the rally dress up representing the culture of respective states. I remember once on the sets of Mere Sai my co - child actors Dhrisha, Karishma and others asked me about republic during our lunch break & I explained them the importance of Republic Day. I also used to participate in the cultural activities organized in my school. Similarly, this year as well I have an off from my shoot and I would be home and will enjoy the Republic Day parade . I feel proud to say that I belong to Shahjahanpur in UP which is known as a land of freedom fighters. People like Ram Prasad Bismil, Roshan Singh have emerged who have fought to get independence for the nation.”

My father belongs to the ordinance factory, which is a defense area. So, where I lived before, Republic Day was big for us. We went to a big stadium where there is a big march past, with tanks, missiles, Police and Army. I celebrated in my school, where a march past is held with the scouts which I am a part of too. I remember very fondly that in one of the cultural events at ordinance factory, I played the role of Bhagat Singh in 2011 where I’d gotten a lot of appreciation. This year, I will be shooting on Jan 26th and we plan to hoist the flag and sing the national anthem on the sets, so hoping that it will be fun.”

Usually, Republic and IndependenceDays are very special for me because I’m a patriotic type. The feeling of pride and love for country is always there, but it increases during these days.Mostly, this year we would be on the sets and we would hoist the flag there. The best memories are of when we were in school and we celebrated with all the friends and teachers and it included singing, dance performances and I was always very active in these cultural activities. Also, we did the same in my society in Mumbai, so, either I used to be performing a dance or singing and it used to be a team work. We used to sing patriotic songs on the top of our voices.”

I remember my Principal hoisting the Indian Flag in the school and how we all used to have goosebumps by just looking at the Indian flag.  Another thing that I was fond of was the ‘Jalebi’ that my father used to get for all of us.  We used to eagerly wait for this day, to sit back at home, enjoy the holiday and eat the Jalebis.”

“When I read or hear Republic Day, it first reminds me of the school days, when we used to have parade and performances on those patriotic songs. It used to give me goosebumps then, and it gives me goosebumps now. As a part of mass media, I feel it as my duty to spread the importance of this day. Also, this Republic Day, I request fellow Indians to respect the National Flag.”
