Revealed- fascinating facets of B’day Boy Abhishek Bachchan by Chaitanya Padukone

Today (Feb 5th) is versatile star-actor and ardent sports-lover-entrepreneur Abhishek Bachchan’s birthday and he just turned 45 years ‘young’.

Being the immensely talented actor-son of a legendary father ( Amitabh Bachchan) obviously has its pros and cons - Chaitanya Padukone

"I have known Abhishek much before he made his screen-debut" Chaitanya Padukone

Unassuming, courteous and affable by nature, armed with a quirky-witty sense of humour, I have known Abhishek much before he made his screen-debut.

It was his iconic-actress mother Jaya-ji Bachchan who introduced her tall, smart son to me, after he had returned to India from his vilayti (overseas) education.

Way back in December 1999, when Amitabh Bachchan honored me on stage with the K A Abbas Memorial Award for ‘excellence in film-journalism’, the young Abhishek preferred to sit in the front-row in the audience.

'In future, when I make my screen-debut i have my own identity as an actor, I will surely come up on stage" Abhishek Bachchan

Instead of coming up on stage with his iconic father and sitting along with a galaxy of filmy celebs including Raveena Tandon and Mahendra Kapoor.

When asked by the media, Abhishek informally reacted that “in future, when I make my screen-debut and also have my own identity as an actor, I will surely come up on stage”.

In showbiz industry, known generally for most upcoming actors craving to grab media-limelight, Abhishek certainly comes off as one of those exemplary exceptions.

Many years later, Amitabh, Jaya and Abhishek co-hosted their perhaps first-ever mega-Holi-hungama-rang barse-dignified-revelry ( I think it was in the year 2004) on their lush lawns inside their landmark Juhu-Prateeksha bungalow.

Where the Bachchan-parivaar had personally and formally invited me. It was a ‘strictly-no-photographs-please’ star-studded yet exclusive homely event.

Normally I don’t play Holi as sometimes the oil-based colours are sticky and stubborn and DIFFICULT to get rid off.

As I entered the decorated gates of ‘Prateeksha’, host Amitabh-jee gracefully applied a laal-teeka on my forehead and co-host Abhishek sprayed me with cool water.

Sensing my tensed-anxiety, the amused said, “ No worries, Chaitanya-jee, we are using only approved herbal colours which will go away with just one scrub-wash.

Jee bhar ke kheliye-gaa. That’s how all the top actors and actresses will be merrily playing Holi without any tensions.”

Abhishek Bchchan is the passionate kabaddi and football lover-entepreneur

The passionate kabaddi and football lover-entepreneur Abhishek who shares a warm-buddy-bonding with his super-star dad Amitabh-jee, was last seen in the web show Breathe: Into The Shadows.

while his next film The Big Bull, was announced as one of the seven big Bollywood movies to be released on OTT platform Disney+Hotstar.

It is commendable to note that, Bachchan-Junior went on to earn critical appreciation for his intense performances in movies Yuva (2004), Sarkar (2005), and Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (2006).

which in turn won him three consecutive Filmfare Awards for Best Supporting Actor, making him the ‘second-and-only-actor’ after legendary Dilip Kumar to win a hat-trick of three Filmfare awards consecutively.

Interestingly, Abhishek won a National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi for ‘producing’ the off-beat comedy-drama movie Paa (2009).

Currently, having wrapped up the shoot of Shah Rukh Khan and Sujoy Ghosh production, Bob Biswas, the Manmarziyaan-lead-actor (Abhishek) is all set to start shooting in Agra by end of this month.

for a new political-comedy film ‘Dasvi’ where he supposedly plays a SSC-failed Chief Minister.

This movie marks the directorial debut of Tushar Jalota. The film ‘Dasvi’ is produced by Dinesh Vijan.

which besides being a hilarious entertainer also has a social message with co-stars. Yami Gautam and Nimrat Kaur who are apparently being added to the lead cast.
