PREDICTABLE!
Jyothi Venkatesh
The millionaire businessman Aditya Dhanraj's (Karan Singh Grover) girlfriend Diya (Sonali Raut) goes missing, and his ex Neha Singh (Bipasha Basu) is called upon to investigate the case. The predictable and as old as the hills subject is about how while looking for various clues, Neha and Aditya feel attracted to each other again and a lot of skeletons tumble out of the closet.
Neha puts duty as her first priority and starts sniffing for facts. The investigation leads to the fact that Diya Dhanraj has actually been kidnapped. The speculation gets a confirmation in the form of a phone call from the kidnapper who demands a huge ransom from Aditya in exchange of sparing Diya’s life. From this point onwards the story starts taking a bizarre turn and by the time the web series halts to a screeching halt, you have already predicated who has engineered the whole process and who is who.
Vikram Bhatt succeeds in repackaging his old thrillers with a bit of flourish but in the end it is more of old wine in a new bottle that leaves nothing to be desired, after all. As the cobwebs get closer and the twists and turns are unfolded, the sacred line between ‘duty’ & ‘long lost found love’ starts blurring more and more for Neha.
If you are a fan of the couple Karan Singh Grover and Bipasha, for your information, this one their next outing after a gap of five years after they had appeared together in the film Alone and before the title was changed to Dangerous, was actually titled Aadat, keeping Vikram Bhatt’s penchant for bizarre titles like Naked, Cheater, Lust, Betrayal etc.
Though there is an attempt to incorporate the lackadaisical script and the half baked screenplay with a lot of twists and turns, Bhushan Patel fails to impress the viewers with his sense of direction and it looks like it has been ghost directed by Vikram Bhatt. The performances of the lead actors leave a lot to be desired. While Karan Singh Grover sports a deadpan look almost throughout the series, Bipasha Basu looks jaded in most of the scenes.
While Suyyash Rai salvages the series to some extent with his acting, the less said about Sonali Raut and Natasha Suri the better. It looks like the two sultry sirens had been added to the cast just to provide titillation which Bipasha just cannot do at this stage of her career. Shot in London, the show has hardly anything to offer of the scenic city than just white cops with English names, but it is producer cum music director Mika Singh who sets out to salvage the series to some extent with his melodious and soothing music. The biggest saving grace of the predictable web series is that it has only seven episodes , each of around 20 minutes and what’s more it is available for free on MXPlayer and hence will not pinch your pocket
