Endearingly Heartwarming!

Destination Zindagi is a sweet as well as endearing glimpse on the plight of an Indian woman.

In short, it is about a 60-year-old widow; her turmoil, predicament, and hurdles despite all the hardships she is ready to go that extra mile to keep her family afloat.

Her journey as a wife, mother and grandmother go through many ups and downs but she never stops on her path to fulfill her responsibilities.

The film is about her journey towards a meaningful destination and a story that many of us will relate to.

The credit ought to go to not only the director Saptarsshi Prem but also the writer Sandeep Dey who has not only written the screenplay but also the dialogues.

The film drives home a poignant message that youngsters should not be complacent and only dream of many things to be accomplished without in any way putting in hard work and only expect that their parents should provide for every comfort that they require or need, without themselves seeking a job.

The best thing about the film is the female protagonist Tirrtha R. Murbaadkar, who had graduated out of FTII along with Rajkummar Rao.

Tirrtha. R. Murbaadkar lives her part as Asha Santosh Shinde to the T lending it every dimension required for the part as an actress with aplomb.

Harish Kulkarni is good as her husband Sanotsh Shinde who dies early in life. Rammnik Singh is also good as her young son Manav who dies too soon leaving his wife Tirrtha in the world with zilch property or bank balance to fend for their young son, who grows up in to a young man who does not want to work for a living but wants his mother to fund him to come up with a fast-food selling momo selling handcart shop in their locality.

Shivankita Diixit as the daughter in law of Tirrtha does not have much to display by way of her performance and is just about average while Harish Kulkarni scores as her wayward son who realizes his mistake soon enough and repents for having been careless towards his mother and turns over a new leaf by the time the film ends on a very positive heartwarming note.

Someshwari who was last seen in the Marathi film Oh My Ghost has been wasted in the role of a nurse who is working with the female pratogonist Asha.

To sum up, it is an endearingly heartwarming film which has its heart in the right place and sets out to deliver home the poignant message that we all, knowingly or unknowingly, are on a journey to accomplish our goals, reach that destination and fulfill all our dreams.

In spite of knowing it fully well that life is a journey that’s full of obstacles, hurdles and hindrances and irrespective of all that, we set on our mission not knowing, whether we will attain the feat or not.
