REVIEW: EK MINI KATHA (TELUGU) By Team Bollyy 29 May 2021 | Updated On 29 May 2021 06:40 IST in Latest Trending News & Gossip New Update Follow Us Share Producer- UV Concepts Director- Karthik Rapolu Star Cast- Santosh Shobhan, Kavya Thapar, Shraddha Das, Brahmaji, Sudarshan Genre-Adult Comedy OTT Platform- Direct Streaming by Amazon Prime Video Rating-*** Hilarious & Heartwarming Jyothi Venkatesh Ek Mini Katha revolves around a highly educated young man's frustration regarding his small asset and his fiance’s yearnings for things which are big. The film begins with a middle class retired father Ram Mohan (Brahmaji) approaching a psychiatrist for his son's (Santosh) treatment as the father thinks that his 30 year old son is a sex addict. Santosh tells the doctor about his life- from the adolescent period to the current happenings. Santosh confesses to the doctor that since his childhood, he believes that he has a small penis and it has been disturbing him with worries about what would happen to his sex life. When he approaches his father to clear his doubts about the same, he is seen beaten up and considered evil-minded since then and the helpless son tries out herbs, pointless tips from the internet and believe it or not even takes appointment for penis enlargement surgery! Santosh’s life takes a steep turn when his parents fix his wedding with Amruta (Kavya Thapar). The film takes an interesting as well as humorous turn when Santosh goes through a plethora of situations that turn his life upside down but all’s well that ends well and Santosh and Amruta live happily ever after! The film proves vividly that if your film boasts of a good content, you need not run after the stars to condescend to act in your film. Hats off to the screenplay writer Merlapaka Gandhi for having conceived a taboo subject like this in a humorous manner and director Karthik Rapolu tackling a subject, which is otherwise adult and complex for the common man to digest easily. Santosh Shobhan steals the show with the right amount of emotion that he invests in his character and adds an extra dimension to his character effortlessly. Kavya Thapar ably compliments Santosh with her wonderful portrayal as the humble and obedient sweet city girl who has a fetish for material things which are big, including her penchant for Big B and Bigg Boss. Brahmaji as Santosh’s worried father is a revelation and gets into the skin of his character with fluidity. Shraddha Das has just been added to the film to provide oomph to it and does not have much by way of performance in the film as the high priestess of sex The best thing about this adult film is that it sets out to tackle the taboo subject of sex and the phallus without making the attempt vulgar in any way. The subject by itself is quite hilarious as there are several situations which make you laugh and desperately the director need not have incorporated forcibly the pathetic character of the grandfather in the family who is crazy about Pooja Hedge’s shapely legs. Though he is not physically present in the film as a character, actor Sonu Sood also has been glorified in the film for his noble deeds during the dreaded pandemic and the Bajrang Dal has been made the scapegoat in the film in the name of Jabrang Dal when the members try to trap Santosh and Amruta in a garden just because they are talking to each other about their marriage. To put it in a nutshell, Ek Mini Katha is a hilarious and heartwarming entertainer though it is a tad long and hence please make it a point to catch it on Amazon Prime Video instead of waiting for a Bollywood producer to buy the rights of the film in Hindi and come up with a film after casting Ayushmann Khurrana or a Rajkummar Rao in it.
