Tacky but engrossing

Though the Hindi version of the biopic of the late Godman Satya Sai Baba has been released right now.

The producer is planning to come up with not only Telugu, but also Marathi and English versions.

The biopic sets out to tell about the origin and rise of Satya Sai Baba as a renowned religious guru.

It is said that Satya Sai Baba was the incarnation of Sai Baba of Shirdi. Millions of people who believed in Sai have the same belief.

Satya Narayan, who was born from the womb of Ishwar Amma in 1926, later became Satya Sai Baba.

The film sets out to show how the small village Putappurthi

At the age of five, he declared himself to be a living God. And these things were also proved by the people when he performed miracles and won over the people’s hearts.

Today, has world-renowned hospitals, music and education centers and many other facilities for the common man, thanks to the constant efforts of Sai Baba .

Anup Jalota plays the title role with aplomb and also considering the fact that he is not an actor but a popular singer, I should say that he has performed his title role with effortless ease.

Jackie Shroff does not get many opportunities

Jackie Shroff does not get many opportunities to present various dimensions of his as a cop while Sadhika Randhawa as his wife is pleasant to the eye.

Zakir Hussain and Murli Sharma impress in negative roles which are tailor made to suit them.

So do Kishori Shahane Vij and Shrawni Goswami, though Aryan Vaid has been wasted in a role which does not even require him to mouth even a single dialogue.

Arun Bakshi also has been wasted in a brief role

Bappi Lahiri manages to churn out some soothing and melodious chart busters in praise of Satya Sai Baba.

On the whole, the film Satya Saibaba to put it shortly is engrossing but at the same time you feel that it is quite tacky as far as production values are concerned and out of place as it has taken seven years for the film to get a theatrical release. The extra star is for Anup Jalota.

I’d say that the film is a onetime watch, especially if you are a fan of both Satya Sai Baba and Anup Jalota
