RICHA CHADHA TO PLAY ADULT STAR SHAKEELA ON BIG SCREEN

After Vidya Balan, Richa Chadha will now be seen portraying the role of Shakeela on the big screen. Vidya Balan's role in The Dirty Picture is beyond perfection. She did utmost justice to the character played by her of Silk Smitha. And just like Vidya Balan, Richa Chadha is also known for picking strong roles for her movie. She is all set now to bring the story of Shakeela who is one of the biggest adult stars to have emerged from the South and Silk Smitha's successor of sorts to the big screen.

The story will revolve around the journey of Shakeela, who rose to prominence in the '90s at a time when the Silk Smitha fever was at its peak. She will be seen as one of the Smitha's fan who inroads into the industry when she was all of 16 and went on to act in several adult films across languages including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada. And finally, at one point she got so popular that her films were said to rival the box-office collections of South superstars Mohanlal and Mammootty's movies. This movie will be helmed by filmmaker Indrajit Lankesh.

Fukrey star Richa Chadha when came across the script jumped at the idea of slipping into the layered character finding it a great role to be played by her. According to a leading daily, "When Richa was given the narration, she saw that it was a powerful role, and immediately gave her nod. Shakeela's life makes for a great story to tell and will make for a great watch for the audience. The preparations will begin soon"

The film is likely to go on floors in April.
