Shah Rukh was 16 and Gauri Chibber was years younger than him . They met at a party while they were in school - Ali Peter John

Shah Rukh belonged to a lower middle class Muslim family and Gauri was a pretty girl from a rich Punjabi Hindu family .

But what could two young lovers do when love came calling in the most unusual way ?

A very shy Shah Rukh asked a very awkward Gauri if he could dance with her at the party and Gauri agreed .

That one dance led to other dances and the dances led to regular meetings and the meetings led to dates and ultimately to love.

But love was not going to be so easy for the boy who was a Muslim and a girl whose Sikh family was entirely against their daughter having anything to do with a Muslim boy . ......

But the lovers did not let anything or anyone to come in the way of their love . They fought against every obstacle and got married on October 25 1991 in Bombay and decided to set up their home in Bombay where they saw their future.

They kept moving from one house to another till the powerful dreamer in Shah Rukh who on one homeless and hungry night had screamed to the sky ,.

" I will conquer you , Bombay , one day " saw a deserted mansion at Band Stand called Villa Vienna and made up his mind that if he ever built a house in Bombay , it would be built in the very place where this deserted palace stood .

His destiny worked at double the speed . His best well wishers Yash Chopra and Yash Johar came into the picture and helped him in every way possible to buy to the "palace" and built his own house according to the designs of his ace designer wife Gauri Khan.

It took time , but today in the place of that deserted palatial bungalow stands one of the most talked about homes of Shah Rukh Khan , Gauri khan , Aryan Khan , Suhana Khan ,AbRam Khan and Shahnaz Khan, the sister of Shah Rukh Khan .

Shah Rukh and Gauri have been married for thirty years now and they have experienced all the ups and downs of life together.

Shah Rukh has gone on record to say that his life as a star or superstar could have been a " mess or a nuisance " , but it has been an extraordinary experience of love peace and understanding besides a wonderful family life, all because of Gauri .

Gauri has been a pillar of support for Shah Rukh and the children and at no other time has she proved this truth than during the recent turmoil in the family because of the Aryan Khan case.

She was the soft and kind and understanding wife and mother throughout all the misery the family had to go through , but she was also the Rock of Gibraltar who stood by Shah Rukh and her son in all their times and moments of the most explosive kinds of crisis .

She was always one of the most respected woman of the industry , but it is during the last two months that she has risen in the esteem of people of all sections and classes .

Just imagine , a nun from a convent in Belgium saying that she used to pray for Shah Rukh Khan every day , but she used to go down on her knees when she prayed for Gauri Khan .

If you ask me , Gauri Khan is the ideal model for all girls of today to follow if we have to have good families which can ultimately make a good society and a country on the move
