Sachin Pilgaonkar’s Quest For A New Heroine Yields Good Dividends

“It was not at all easy to discover a pretty new girl to play the leading lady opposite Laxmikant Berde’s smart young son Abhinay Berde in my next directorial venture Ashi Hee Ashiqui but I was lucky I was ultimately able to zero in the pretty Kolhapur based Hemal Ingle to play the lead in my directorial venture Ashi Hi Ashiqui. Hemal , who I consider like my daughter is able to complement Abhinay Berde, who I had first met when he was born to my friend Laxmikant Berde and his wife actress Priya Arun. Hemal hails from Kolhapur and I told her that originally her place was called Kalapur but the English could not pronounce it as Kalapur and hence they rechristened it to Kolhapur” said Sachin Pilgaonkar, who is a super star in Marathi films and has put in more than 50 years into acting. I spoke to Sachin on at the launch of the teaser and trailer of his film Ashi Hi Aashiqui produced by Bhushan Kumar, Supriya Pilgaonkar, Vajir Singh and Joe Rajan. “On the sets of my film Ashi Hi Ashiqui , I had no other alternative but to be cruel towards both Abhinay and Hemal in order to be kind and extract the best out of both. Ashi Hi Ashiqui is Abhinay Bedrde’s second film after his first film Ti Saddhya Kay Karte, which catapulted him to stardom.
