Sadhana Shivdasani Birthday Special: This is about those days when three maharathis had fallen in love with Sadhana -- Ali Peter John

New Update

I sometimes wonder what the world would be without love. I know the power and weakness of love, but I still love to love and I don't think I can change now. Love has shown me all its moods, attitudes and shades, but I am still dedicated and true to the original type of love. I know that love can make or break, but I still love to love. Emperors and kings have lost their empires and kingdoms for love, so may I allow myself to be lost as a lover who was taught the meaning of love to me by my mother who is the ultimate symbol of my love.

It's a lover in me, who admires lovers and lovers and their love stories. It is an unusual love story, starring what was said to be one of the most beautiful actresses, named Sadhna, whose first film was 'Love in Shimla'. I saw her in Usha Talkies in Andheri when I was 9 years old and I fell in love with her and I was one of her boyfriends when she left the industry and merged with Panchatava on Christmas day in 2015!

Soon after 'Love in Shimla', Sadhna signed many films, especially for her beauty and her hairstyle which was called 'Sadhana Cut', a style her director followed in 'Love in Shimla'. Which was a style that was inspired by Hollywood actress Audrey Hepburn. She signed films with leading stars like Dev Anand, Shammi Kapoor and Joy Mukherjee, her first hero!

But, the year 1965 was a turning point in his life and career. He did films like 'Woh Kaun Thi', 'Hum Botho', 'Waqt' and 'Arzoo', the first directed by Raj Khosla, the second with Vijay Anand, the third with Yash Chopra and the fourth with Ramanand Sagar, and All the films were blockbusters and Sadhna was one of the highest paid leading actresses then!

It was a time when the whole country was in love with her and her 'Sadhana cut' hairstyle and tight churidar kurta outfits, both of which became a craze. It seemed that no one could stop him, a fact that even his rivals accepted him!

And more than her fans and admirers, she had three best directors who were madly in love with her. She knew how much they loved her and it is said that she also showered all three directors with attention, care and love without telling her that she had also learned that the other person was also in love with her.

Yash Chopra considered her his lucky charm as he cast her in his first multi-starrer film Waqt, which was the biggest hit of the 60s. Yashji has told me many stories about his love for Sadhna. He and Sadhana used to talk on the phone for more than 12 hours at night and was determined to marry her, but it was his elder brother Dr. BR Chopra who did not allow him to fulfill his wish.

However, Yash ji could not forget Sadhna and years later, when Sadhna had left the industry and started making TV serials, Yash ji helped her in every possible way, be it financial help or technical expertise. Yashji and Sadhna were in touch with each other till the very end. But the winner in the race of Sadhana's lovers was RK Nayyar, who was her choice, who directed her first film 'Love in Shimla'. This was described by many as a race in which the tortoise won. Sadhana and Nayyar's marriage lasted for the next 30 years, until Nayyar's death in 1995!

And after Nayyar's death, Sadhna never thought of remarrying. She quit working in films after 1973 as she did not want to play mother roles and supporting roles. She was working even when she had a severe thyroid disease which damaged her beautiful face and eyes which were her strong points. After treatment in Boston, USA, she almost recovered and came back and started working again and during this time she also did some great roles. He even directed a film called 'Geeta Mera Naam', in which he did action sequences that no other actress (except Nadia) had done at that time.

She was still optimistic about her future when cancer overtook her. She had several court cases regarding her house and eventually shifted to a building called Sangeeta Apartments in Santa Cruz, where one night she complained of a high fever and was taken to Hinduja Hospital, where she was treated on Christmas Day. He died and was cremated at the Oshiwara Electric Crematorium and as his body went up in flames, I once again realized how fame, fortune and all the luxuries of life are just a passing phase and Death is the only ultimate truth.

And it was only a passing dream of this Sindhi girl from the barracks of Zion, where her family lived as refugees who had come from Pakistan and who sang the song 'Mud Mud Ke Na Dekh Ke Mud Mud Ke' in Raj Kapoor's film 'Shree 420'. ' started her career as a junior dancer and ended as the 'mystery girl' who had to lie down on the dirty floor of an electric crematorium, where two men put her body in an oven and Pressed a button and came out with relief and said, “It's done, it's over.”

The truth of cremation is the most peaceful truth, but we humans keep searching for peace here and there, sometimes real peace and sometimes fake peace.
