SAFAR—A SONG THAT WE'RE PLAYING ON LOOP!

Harry Met Sejal is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated films of the year. Needless to say, the songs have only added fuel to the fire of our excitement. The JHMS team has released three songs and if we had to choose our favourite amongst the three, it has to be Safar! Hands down! We can see you all nodding your heads in agreement.

While we don’t really need to justify our love for the song, it’s important we give all the rationales a few reasons as to why it tops the list for us.

Here it goes!

The video of this song gives us major Shah Rukh Khan-ly vibes. It’s fun, witty and effortlessly beautiful, but there’s more to it than that. It is the entire concept of the video that bowled us over. Apart from Shah Rukh Khan, this video features the lyricist(Irshad Kamil), the music composer (Pritam) and the captain of the ship, Imtiaz Ali.

In this world credit is seldom given where its due (life as we know it). However, it just happens that the credits for a good film is mostly given to the actors. Of course, they are the ones we see on the screen but we just cannot forget all those people who make the film happen in the first place. Likewise, the credits of a good music album are given to the singers but we forget there's the lyricist, the music composer, the musicians, the arrangers amongst others who make it all possible. Credit must be shared because so are the efforts.

Safar through its video finally builds a bridge amidst the existing disparities and rightfully so. We were pleasantly surprised to see Irshad Kamil and Pritam in the video. The video commences with the contemplation of finding the right word that fits the character, which eventually leads to the name of the track Safar and then the fun banter between Pritam and Shah Rukh completely bowled us over.

Also, we terribly missed Arijit Singh in the video. Though the singer has always been vocal about how he prefers staying behind the camera, we would've loved it had he been a part of this one. We aren’t going overboard complaining about it because as long as Arijit is singing and stirring all the right emotions within us with his voice, we are more than happy.

Imtiaz Ali is also a part of this special video but is seen maintaining his natural persona. He isn’t seen talking much in the video and instead takes a video of Shah Rukh singing the song. Imtiaz's mere presence brought a smile to our faces so he pretty much did his job there!

And then, we have Shah Rukh in the video and we needn’t say anything at all about that because of course, it’s him we are drooling over.

We assume that by now you would’ve lost count of how many times you've seen the song but just in case you haven’t (we are totally judging you), GO WATCH IT NOW.
