Maharashtra Shahir, a biography on ‘Shahir’ aka Krushnarao Sable, singer of ‘Jai Jai Maharashtra Majha…’is in making to commemorate his centenary year. The producers and director of the film made another revelation about the film by announcing that Sangeet Devbabhali-fame talented actress Shubhangi Sadavarte is playing the role of LaxmibaiGanpatrao Sable, Shahir’s mother in Maharashtra Shahir. The poster of Shubhangi’s character as Laxmibai was released on the occasion of LaxmiPoojan on Monday.
Presented by Everest Entertainment and Kedar Shinde Production, the producers of Maharashtra Shahir are Sanjay Chhabria and Bela Kedar Shinde. The film is being shot at various locations in Wai, Bhor, Pune and Mumbai after the Muhurat shot taken on the day of Sussehra in Wai. Shubhangi, whose characterAvali in Sangeet Devbabhali is widely applauded by the audience, has been participating in the shooting.
Theproducers of the film havealready revealed a few unprecedented and surprisingelements related to the making of the film arousing the curiosity of the audience related to the film. It is perhaps a one-of-its-kind incident that a grandson (Kedar Shinde) is directing a biopic of his grandfather (Shahir Sable). Another feat the film achieved was by roping in Shahir’s great-granddaughter Sana Kedar Shinde to play the character of Shahir’s wife Bhanumati.
After having marked the unprecedented coincidences, Maharashtra Shahir saw a Class-VI student from a remote village near Shirdi to lend his voice to the character of young Shahir. Jayesh Khare, the young singer, hails from a very humble family and has been singing since the age of 4. Ajay-Atul, a leading music director duo in Marathi and Hindi film industry, found Jayesh's video which went viral on social media for his song from the recently released Chandramukhi, and approached him to sing a song from Maharashtra Shahir.The producers and music directorare being applauded for their rare feast of giving the hidden talent from a small village an opportunity on a larger scale. Khare was given training for two days at a starred hotel by the music director before recording the song at Yashraj studios.
The script of the film has been penned by leading writer and director Pratima Kulkarni. Leading Marathi actor Ankush Chaudhari is playing the lead role in the film. There are many more surprises, waiting to be revealed in the coming days, related to the actors playing the characters of contemporary personalities in the life of Shahir.
Speaking about the Laxmibai Sable’s role being played by Shumbhangi, director Kedar Shinde said, “Like Shahir’s wife Bhanumati, his mother Laxmibai had a lion’s share in shaping the great artist since childhood. Her values inculcated in Shahir made him a great artist who always thrust upon quality creation. Talented actress Shubhangi Sadavarete is playing the key character. I am sure that she will take the character to another level with her subtle and natural acting skills.”
