Sanjay Leela Bhansali to re-release Devdas in 3D

Devdas, the magnum opus of director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, starring Shahrukh Khan, Madhuri Dixit and Aishwarya Rai, was released on July 12, 2002. It was considered to be among one of the most expensive films of the time and went on to become a huge hit at the box office. Based on book of the same name by Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay, the movie has been adapted twice on big screen and both times it was considered a milestone for Indian cinema. However, Bhansali's version is considered to be the most superior by far with its larger than life mise en scène, soulful music, heart penetrating voice of Shreya Ghoshal, and mesmerising performances by Madhuri, Aishwarya and of course Shahrukh. The film received global appreciation; it was not only screened at the Cannes Film Festival, but was also nominated in the Best Foreign Films category in the Oscars that year.

For those who felt that it wasn't just a film, but portrayal of life at its best, be prepared to experience the magic once again. According to a report in DNA, Bhansali plans to release the film in 3D to mark its 15-year-anniversary. The perfect shots, balanced colours in each scene, the depth of each frame with proper proportions and dimensions make this film ideal for being re-released in three-dimension.

Can you wait for the release? We certainly can't.
