The veteran filmmaker Sawan Kumar is no more. The 86 year old 'young at heart'and jovial dirdctor cum lyricist left us after battling with lung infection as well heart problems for a few days at a hospital in Mumbai - JYOTHI VENKATESH

The man who had made several jubilee hits had started his career as a director with the film Gomti ke kinare and had enthralled the viewers with several hits and had cast stars like Meena Kumar, Rajendra Kumar, Anil Shawan, neetu singh, shatrighan sinha , salman khan and rajesh khanna snd Tina Munim in his memorable films like sonu aur monu, souten, Sanam Bewafa and was working on the pre production of uis next as yet untitled film at the time of his demise.

Sawan was excellent as a host for his hospitality at his home as well as office and was a neighbor of the late music meastro Khayyan in Juhu. He is survived by his estranged wife music dirdctor Usha Khanna.i will miss him forever as he was a friend in need.

Interviewing Saawan Kumar was journalist 's delight. He was outspoken and used to give quotable quotes. His office at Dakshinamurthy near Juhu circle was hub of film activities. When Khalnayak - Khalnayika controversy erupted he minced no words and had fuelled the controversy more.
