SHAH RUKH KHAN'S ALIBAUG BUNGALOW ATTACHED, LABELLED ‘BENAMI PROPERTY’

The recent crystal award winner for his leadership in championing children’s and women’s rights in India, Shah Rukh Khan is now in a bit trouble. Reports are filed against him by Income Tax Department for violating  laws. The actor has come under scanner for his luxirious villa in Alibaug which is near to South Mumbai sea Beach.

Under the Prohibition of Benami Property Transactions Act, The IT department has provisionally attached actor Shah Rukh Khan's bungalow in Alibaug by labelling it as a bemani property  and filed a report. To this, Khan needs to reply before the authority within 90 days. Once the adjudication authority confirms the attachment. The I-T authorities can initiate criminal action too.

“The said transaction falls under the definition of benami transaction as per the Section 2 (9) of the PBPT Act, where Deja Vu Farms has acted as benamidar for the ultimate benefits of Shah Rukh Khan. Thus, the actor is a beneficiary for the said under the prescribed law,” said an IT investigation report according to Business Standard.

Shah Rukh Khan's Deja Vu Farms is worth Rs 146.7 million, but its market price is up to five times that amount. The farmhouse covers 19,960 sq m and has a swimming pool and a private helipad. Alibaug tehsildar Prakash Sakpal said, "A swimming pool constructed on the plot (188/1/B)  led to the serving of notices for violating CRZ rules"

The attachment notice was issued last month to Deja Vu Farms under the Prohibition of Benami Property Transactions Act. As per the website of the Registrar of Companies, Deja Vu Farms Pvt Ltd was incorporated on December 29, 2004, with interests in crops, gardening and horticulture. Namita Chhiba, Ramesh Chhiba and Savita Chhiba are named as its directors. But according to I-T authorities Ramesh Chibba, Savita Chibba, and Namita Chibba are Khan's father-in-law, mother-in-law and sister-in-law respectively.

According to the report by Business Standard, Shah Rukh Khan has initially purchased the property as agricultural land for farming but later ended up turning it into a farmhouse for his personal use.

We hope he gets out of trouble as soon as possible!
