Padmavati could easily be called the most controversial film of the decade. Ensued in controversies since the making days, some religious groups chose to give the makers a very tough time and have constantly made an issue about the subject of the film. From asking the country to boycott it's release to damaging the sets and giving death threats to the leads of the film and the director. The groups caused mayhem and it just doesn't seem to stop.

Amidst the shadows surrounding the film, Shahid Kapoor advocates optimism and chooses to maintain calm and remain peaceful. While marking his presence at the International Film Festival Of India 2017, being held in Goa, he finally chose to speak on the Padmavati row, as told to Mid-Day.

On being asked, if the present scenario was disappointing for him, he said-

'This is not the time to be angry; this is not the time to lose your cool because there are enough people doing that right now. So I would choose to say that I believe in the process and I am very optimistic. I am sure 'Padmavati' will come out. Once people see the film, they will be proud of it like we are. All of this will be forgotten then'

He further added-

'Our constitution says that you are innocent until proven guilty. Same should be extended to 'Padmavati', it should not be considered guilty even before it is provided for people to judge it.'

At the moment, everyone's waiting for the new release date to be announced for the film and in the meanwhile, CBFC is going through all the procedures to approve the film.
