After the success of Padmaavat, Shahid Kapoor is all set to step into his next project Batti Gul Meter Chalu where he will be playing the role of a young lawyer and will undergo an extreme makeover. He will be playing the role of a young boy in his 20s and for this transformation, costume designer Neelanchal Ghosh and Darshan Jalan are working overtime to get the look right.
Producer Prernaa Arora said, “Shahid plays a young local boy from Uttarakhand who is a diehard romantic.The costume designer duo has been working with artisans in villages of the North Indian state and sourcing fabrics locally to ensure authenticity. Shahid will be wearing lots of bright sweaters and jackets since the story unfolds in winter. Now, all Shahid requires is a young haircut and a clean-shaven, boyish look”.
The producer also provided the details regarding Shraddha Kapoor's character as she will be playing the role of a small town girl and will be sporting ethnic look. She adds, “She’s a bubbly girl and quite notorious in the first half of the film. Post interval, her character undergoes a transformation and with her behavior, her look will also change".
Prenaa also added, “We recently had a reading session with chai, dinner and lots of laughter. Shahid is a terrific actor and has been spending hours every day getting each line and punctuation in his dialogue sheet right. Along with Shree, Siddharth and Garima, he has been adding his own humor to the character and constantly improvising. He’s mastered the local dialect after undergoing training since the beginning of the year”.
The movie Batti Gul Meter Chalu also stars Yami Gautam and is scheduled to go on floors in Uttarakhand on February 9. The movie will be shot across Haridwar, Rishikesh, Tehri, Mussoorie, and Nainital, and is expected to wrap up by April.
