These days everyone from Anil Sharma to Sunny Deol is organizing parties claiming the success of "Gadar 2". These people are claiming that 'Gadar 2' has defeated all the films in terms of earnings. Happy with the success of 'Gadar 2', Sunny Deol has invited journalists to his bungalow and distributed sweets. Anil Sharma had also hosted a dinner for journalists on August 18, in which only his son Utkarsh Sharma and actress Simrat Kaur were present. Meanwhile, Amisha Patel has also held a separate press conference twice. Not only this, a grand party was organized on September 2 to announce that 'Gadar 2' had earned Rs 500 crore. Many Bollywood celebrities including Shahrukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, and Gauri Khan participated. But from this party, it became clear who was with whom. Many people from Raj Kumar Hirani to 'Yash Raj Films' remained absent.
However, claims are being made by Anil Sharma and Sunny Deol that 'Gadar 2' has been a bigger success than the film 'Gadar: Ek Prem Katha' released in 2001. People are making fun of this. People are questioning whether Anil Sharma and Sunny Deol have forgotten that 1.5 crore tickets of the film 'Gadar: Ek Prem Katha', released on June 15, 2001, were sold. According to that, if 1.5 crore tickets of 'Gadar 2' are sold today, then considering the current ticket rates, this amount should have reached Rs 5,000 crore, but it did not happen. Why not only 'Gadar 2' but even 'Baahubali', 'RRR', 'KGF Chapter 2' or 'Pathan' could earn such a huge amount of money? Doesn't this fact force the entire Bollywood to think? We should also remember that the budget of 'Gadar: Ek Prem Katha' was only eighteen and a half crores. The budget of 'Gadar 2' is around 100 crores. We should not forget that in 2001, cinema ticket rates started at twenty rupees. At that time the price of gold was three thousand rupees tola. Whereas now the price of gold is about fifty-five thousand rupees tola.
Secondly, has 'Gadar 2' really filled the producer's pockets by collecting Rs 500 crore at the box office? Look, we all go to theaters and buy tickets and watch movies. After that, when we come to know that this film has earned so much, we all think that the entire amount paid by me as ticket price has gone into the producer's pocket. But in reality, this does not happen.. GST (earlier it was entertainment tax) is also included in the amount paid for the ticket purchased by us. Apart from this, the multiplex/single cinema hall owner also has a share in it. Come, today let us understand in detail how much money the producer gets from the box office collection.
Earlier, an entertainment tax was levied on cinema tickets, which was imposed differently by each state government. But ever since GST was introduced, GST has started being imposed in place of entertainment tax and it is uniform across the country. Cinema tickets up to Rs 100 attract 18 percent GST, while tickets above Rs 100 attract 28 percent GST. This GST amount goes to the government. After this, the cinema hall/multiplex owner usually deducts ten percent in the form of uploading, banner, and other expenses. After this, the remaining amount is divided according to the status of the producer. If there is a very big and successful producer, the cinema owner gets forty percent and the film producer gets sixty percent. Otherwise, there is a 50-50 distribution. This calculation is for the first week. From the second week onwards the cinema owner's share increases. After this, the producer will have to pay the promotional expenses of the film from his own pocket.
On this basis, if we look at the earnings of 'Gadar 2', it will be as follows - The producers are claiming that 'Gadar 2' has earned Rs 500 crore at the box office. The per ticket rate of 'Gadar 2' is more than Rs.100. That's why at least 28 percent GST was levied on every ticket.
So out of Rs 500 crore, the amount of GST will be reduced by 28 percent. That is, out of five hundred crores, 140 crores went to the government. Then ten percent i.e. fifty crore rupees will be deducted for uploading and other expenses. Now the remaining amount was divided between the cinema owner and the producer. The producers of 'Gadar 2' are big, so the distribution would have been done on the basis of fifty percent...
500 crores
- 140 crores - GST
- 50 crores - Uploading and other expenses
So now three hundred and ten crore rupees are left. Out of this only Rs 155 crore will come in the pocket of the producer. Out of these Rs 155 crore, the publicity expenses will be reduced. A lot of money was spent on the publicity of 'Gadar 2'. Only Sunny Deol went to Wagah Border, Delhi, and other places by private jet. Anil Sharma along with his son and others went to meet many people including Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Adityanath Yogi. Expenses of press conferences held in Delhi and Mumbai. After deducting the expenses of the party and dinner given to celebrate the success, it will be known that the producers of 'Gadar 2' are at a loss. Despite this, from the very second day of the release of his film, every producer, through his PR team, makes false claims about the success of the film and tries to make him look red by slapping his cheeks with his own hands. The reason for this is that we will talk in detail some other time.
Generally, filmmakers talk about similar distribution. Some people say that after deducting the expenses of GST, multiplexes, publicity, etc., barely fifteen to twenty-thirty percent goes into the producer's pocket. After applying this criterion, every common man.
