SHYAM BENEGAL WAS THE ONLY SAVING GRACE AT THE 17TH MIFF 2022 CLOSING CEREMONY

Names of celebrities from the film industry like Shyam Benegal, Padma Bhushan and Dadasaheb Phalke Award winner, besides Members of Parliament Sunny Deol, Manoj Tiwari, Hema Malini, Ravi Kishan and Hansraj Hanswere touted to be part of the glittering 17th Mumbai International Film Festival 2022 closing ceremony where awards were given away to various makers of short fiction, documentaries and animation films - Jyothi Venkatesh

However, to the chagrin of all the invitees present to witness the ceremony, none besides Shyam Benegal had turned up at the venue where Bhagat Singh Kpshiyari, Hon Governor of Maharashtra was the chief guest.

However, when asked , the renowned filmmaker Rahul Rawail clarified that Sunny Deol had already declined to be at the closing ceremony of MIFF 2022 as he was busy shooting for his latest film at Manali and had in fact even sent a mail indicating that and excused himself, though his name was printed in the invitations.

I wonder why on earth Ravi Kishan, whose name was mentioned as Ravindra S Shukla, Hansraj Hans and Manoj Tiwari were absent though they are Members of Parliament.

If only both Sunny Deol as well as Hema Malini were present at the venue, it would have made history as the first and only occasion where both the mother as well as the step son would have been present
