Sudhir Sharma and Seema Sharma’s production Ziddi Dil Maane Na has been topping the TRP chart and garnering good response from the audience - Jyothi Venkatesh
Simple Kaul, who portrays the role of Koel in the show, is on cloud nine with all the love her character and the show have been receiving.
“Ziddi Dil Maane Na is a youth based show, and we have a lot of young fans who DM us on Instagram and share their valuable suggestions, feedback… It’s been such a delight to work with Sudhir and Seema.
They are such lovely people, intelligent, creative, approachable and down-to-earth. Their brand of content is unique and relatable.
Ziddi Dil Maane Na has a Bollywood feel, it’s quite filmy. It has romance, friendship, a bit of reality mixed with dreams.
Sudhir and Seema have always dared to take the paths less taken and successes.
Their choice of stories, actors, directors, creative team, technicians etc are perfect,” adds the actor, who has done shows such as Kkusum, Shararat, Ye Meri Life Hai, Saas Bina Sasural, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, Dilli Wali Thakur Gurls.
Simple relates to Koel's character well and likes the fact that she is strong and emotional. At times she is manipulative too.
“No one is good or bad in reality, and Koel is exactly like that. She is filled with goodness and also has her own flaws, and that’s what makes her real.
Her sense of humour is also something I can relate to. Koel is also very warm and understanding,” she explains.
She talks about bonding with co-actor Nirbhay Thakur, who plays the role of (Nikhil) in the show.
“He is like my child, very cute. I think everyone on the sets bond with him. I enjoy everyone’s company on the set, saying this from my heart. The team is fun to work with,” she adds
Sharing an interesting incident that happened on the set, Simple mentions how recently when her co-star Diljot Chabra (Captain Sanjana Dubey) was sleeping, She clicked her picture and put it on social media.
“Diljot came to know about it much later and was like ‘remove my picture immediately’ (Laughs).
Then, I took another picture of her looking at her sleeping photo and laughing, and posted it on social media again... Shooting sequences with Nikhil is also fun.
He is really possessive about me. So, every time he’s upset with me, he tells everyone to stop talking to me but ends up coaxing me to talk to him,” she laughs again.
Recalling a situation in life when her ‘dil’ became ‘ziddi’, Simple says that she has been a stubborn person while growing up, however now she is much better.
“Because of my stubbornness only I have reached where I am today. Acting was not really a conventional career when I started and parents didn’t encourage their kids to choose this field.
I didn’t know anyone when I came to Mumbai and started doing theatre. And, this coming to Mumbai happened all of a sudden when I decided to give acting a try.
My parents were constantly saying no, but I did a part-time job to earn some money and came to the city to try my luck. My stubborn heart helped me succeed,” she says.
