Remembering the Charming Navin Nischol: A Legacy in Entertainment

Today marks the 13th death anniversary of Navin Nischol, a charismatic actor who left an indelible mark on Indian cinema. Nischol, known for his effortless charm and screen presence, carved a successful path in Bollywood for over four decades.

Won the first gold medal From FTII

Born on March 18, 1946, Nischol's journey began with a bang. He was the first gold medalist from the prestigious Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) to achieve mainstream success.

The leading man: Navin Nichol

His debut film, "Sawan Bhadon" (1970), became a box office hit, establishing him as a leading man. He went on to star in numerous films throughout the 70s and 80s, captivating audiences with his performances in movies including "Buddha Mil Gaya," "The Burning Train," and the comedy classic "Khosla Ka Ghosla!" 

Nischol wasn't limited to the silver screen. He made a smooth transition to television, captivating audiences with his performances in shows like "Dekh Bhai Dekh." His career, however, was not without its share of controversies.

The tragic personal life of Nichol

Nischol's personal life also garnered headlines. His first marriage to Neelu Kapoor, Dev Anand's niece, ended in divorce. The tragic suicide of his second wife, Geetanjali, in 2006 cast a shadow over his later years. 

On March 19, 2011, while traveling to Pune, Nischol suffered a fatal heart attack. Ironically, it was reported that he had once expressed a desire for a quick and painless death. In a way, his wish was granted.
