His debut film, "Sawan Bhadon" (1970), became a box office hit, establishing him as a leading man. He went on to star in numerous films throughout the 70s and 80s, captivating audiences with his performances in movies including "Buddha Mil Gaya," "The Burning Train," and the comedy classic "Khosla Ka Ghosla!"
Nischol wasn't limited to the silver screen. He made a smooth transition to television, captivating audiences with his performances in shows like "Dekh Bhai Dekh." His career, however, was not without its share of controversies.
The tragic personal life of Nichol
Nischol's personal life also garnered headlines. His first marriage to Neelu Kapoor, Dev Anand's niece, ended in divorce. The tragic suicide of his second wife, Geetanjali, in 2006 cast a shadow over his later years.
On March 19, 2011, while traveling to Pune, Nischol suffered a fatal heart attack. Ironically, it was reported that he had once expressed a desire for a quick and painless death. In a way, his wish was granted.
