With the comfort and accessibility that technology has added to our fast-paced life, no one is able to slow down. Everyone wants to do more, do better than the other and earn as much money as possible, sometimes even by hook or crook. Life definitely has changed a lot. Actor turned humanitarian Somy Ali, who now runs her NGO, No More Tears (NMT), shares her experience.

It's not good for our body, mind, or soul. I want to stress that we should make time for ourselves. It's like charging your phone when it's running out of battery. Likewise, we should pause from our busy lives and just relax, especially when we spend time in nature or a peaceful place. This is really important to recharge our minds and bodies so that we can be good at whatever job we do," she explains

On her part, Somy enjoys quiet walks in nature or even hiking, or simply listening to calming music. “I enjoy free writing which is something I was taught during my time when I was obtaining my undergraduate degree. It truly works for me as it means writing your thoughts quickly and continuously, without worrying about form, style, or even grammar. Alongside brainstorming, free writing is typically used early in the writing process to collect and manifest one's thoughts. The bottom line is that one is bound to crash and burn if they don't stop and ascertain their own self-awareness and behavior. Remember fate will give or take whatever it has mapped out for you so no matter how fast you run, it will not change what is in your destiny or luck,” she says.

Talking about the biggest goals of her life, Somy mentions two goals that she has. One of these dreams is associated with the expansion of her NGO.

“I want several No More Tears chapters in third-world countries where I can gather a team of people who run on solving issues that have some moral worth and help me help others hands-on in the field rather than sit around behind a fancy desk. I'm not the type of Executive Director who just manages things from afar. I enjoy being part of the change and helping those who need it. I want to be hands-on and work alongside volunteers, because, as they say, 'It takes a village to raise a child', she says.

And what’s the second dream? “I want to write, produce and sometimes even act in films that have substance. Given now that I have a fondness and education for making real cinema and bringing true stories onto the silver screen I definitely feel inclined toward it. I already have an episodic series I have been writing for seven years based on a true story and it is my dream to bring that to fruition one day given I find the right people to partner with and investors,” she ends.
