Somy Ali on the tragic Titanic sub-implosion: It’s shocking and devastatingly sad… my condolences to the families of those who lost their loved ones

In a tragic turn of events, the submersible that was carrying five billionaires to see the Titanic imploded. On June 18, the submersible started the journey on a happy note, but about two hours later it lost communication. The world was following their journey, praying for their survival ever since the news broke. Actor turned humanitarian Somy Ali, who now runs her NGO, No More Tears, opens up about the incident, especially on the upsetting fact that something related to the Titanic has again reached this tragic end.

“All one can say is that I send my condolences to the families of those who lost their loved ones. It’s the saddest case of irony ever. One wouldn’t have even dreamed of something like this happening, given the circumstances,” she says.

Calling it both shocking and devastatingly sad, Somy adds, “This is what makes us appreciate not only those close to us. I feel we should tell them we love them all the time, and be aware that in a snap of a second’s time, you can do a very fatal 180 degrees.”

Somy Ali tries to highlight the reality of life in a practical way and hopes such things would make people aware and mindful. She also hopes tragedy like this does not get repeated.
