Somy Ali whose NGO No More Tears helped many in 2021 says "Our goal for 2022 is to save more lives and contact some NGOs in India to partner with them

Former actor Somy Ali has dedicated her life to humanitarian work through her Miami based NGO, No More Tears (NMT) - Jyothi Venkatesh

It is a non-profit organization with a mission to assist and empower survivors of human trafficking (GT) and domestic violence (DV). The year 2021 has been a lot of work and achievements for NMT.

“We have rescued 19 LGBTQ HT victims, 24 HT victims, both male and female and 7 victims of hate crime victims. Other than that we have saved about 33 DV victims and 18 sexually abused children.

Our goal for 2022 is to save more lives and contact some NGOs in India to partner as we want to start a new NMT chapter there,” she says.

Talking about the two most difficult cases of 2021, Somy shares what happened with a woman and a young boy.

She adds, “One extremely brave woman from the LGBTQ Community who was stabbed by her girlfriend and flatlined, came back from death miraculously.

A true hero! Now studying criminal justice with hopes of helping other survivors such as herself. The second case is that of an eight-year-old boy sex trafficked by his own father.

Sold to several men where this kid was raped over 10 times a day. Now he is under our care and our lawyer is seeking justice for all this child has endured. He is also in therapy for his trauma provided by NMT.”

So what is the message to your followers and well wishers? “You do not need to have an NGO to be an activist, you simply have to act.

Take a stand against any injustices you witness. Make it your business and do not ignore the suffering of women, children, men, the elderly, and animals,” she ends.
