Saluting his contribution towards Indian Hockey Sony MAX brings to you television screen a true saga of blood, sweat, tear and toil. Soorma in Punjabi means ‘warrior’, as the title suggests the story revolves around an international hockey player Sandeep Singh who faced near to death experience which left him paralyzed and wheel-chair bound for two years of his life. With sheer determination, hard work and unrelenting passion for sports he made a triumph come back. Under his captaincy India won 2009 Sultan Azlan Sha Cup and also qualified for the 2012 Olympics. Says Taapsee Pannu, “Considering that I have never played this sport before I thought that Sandeep would get a little worked up with me but he was pretty calm and very encouraging. He was very clear about teaching me the technique right. Whatever I have learned in the period I had is very commendable because I never thought I could do that much also”.
