Makar Sankranti is the shift of seasons. I was brought up in Jaipur and it used to be really cold there. So, after Makar Sankranti our school timings used to change and get delayed by 1 hour. For me and my family, Sankranti was mainly about going to the terrace and competing with our neighbours in playing loud music and flying kites. This festival also reminds me of til laddoo and gajak which I loved eating. All this is associated with when I lived in Jaipur. However, now that I am in Mumbai, I don’t celebrate Makar Sankranti a lot. But I would love to take my kids once to Jaipur in order to make them experience the actual atmosphere during this festival.

I would like to convey one message to my viewers- ‘Til-Gud haao aur meetha meetha bolo!’ We should always think before speaking anything so as to not to hurt anyone. It is a festival of happiness so let’s celebrate by speaking only good things.

Makar Sankranti is synonymous to me with Kite flying. It brings back great memories from my childhood. I used to be very excited to fly kites and have kite battles with my friends. We had a huge colony where all the friends used to gather and celebrate with kites and mithai for hours.

In my childhood, kite flying would start well before Makar Sankranti. As one grows up there is seldom a chance to be as one was in his childhood. Having said that, we all are aware of the dangers to the birds due to kite flying, I don’t fly kites but do indulge in some good food and Mithais with friends and family.

As the Sun transits into the house of Capricorn (Makar Rashi), it brings an elevation of creativity and positivity. I wish all the possible creativity and good luck to my viewers.

For me, Makar Sankranti is all about getting together, chilling with your family, friends and closed ones and flying a kite of course or at least trying to; I am really bad at flying kites. The basic idea is to have a good time from breakfast to dinner, summing it as a great day.

My message to all the viewers, on this festival, is that just keep it simple and enjoy this day with your family.
