The 'Remembering APJ" musical evening event last Saturday to commemorate the first death anniversary of late eminent veteran film-journalist Ali Peter John-Sir as part of the frequent 'Soulful Saturdays' (SS) events turned out to be a memorable sentimental experience for all those who attended.. Well- organised by impresario and eminent musicologist and "SS" founder Rajesh Subramanian along with co-founder dynamic Mani Subramaniam with timely support from Theresa D'Souza it was a feast-treat-cum-soulful tribute of over non-stop 40 melodious Bollywood songs sung to 'Karaoke' accompaniment, by a highly talented group of over 20 female and male, mostly amateur, yet amazing passionate singers .

As is their tradition, some eminent Bollywood personality is generally invited to attend the popular 'Soulful Saturdays' ( "Entry Free" event ) This time, eminent Phalke award-winning senior journalist-editor-author Chaitanya Padukone ( who had a long friendly association with Ali Peter John for over three decades) was specially invited as a 'Guest' . Besides complimenting the singers and the enthusiastic audience, Chaitanya, while on stage, shared some interesting nostalgic anecdotes in his fond sentimental-homage tribute to APJ-Sir.. Most of the selected variety of solo and duet songs performed 'live; were commendable and very emotionally relevant to the 'soulful' occasion of 'Remembering APJ"

The tribute to Ali Peter John Sir had everything perfect in place. Renditions that came straight from the heart, song selection that encapsulated the veteran journalist illustrious career and the audience turnout 190 plus and beyond control. This was one of the best events of Soulful Saturdays in its 8 year journey. Those who were part of the evening were truly blessed. The spirit of APJ was alive and his bounteous blessings made the evening memorable and truly nostalgic. May the soul of APJ always remain in eternal peace, " writes Rajesh who was delighted to also share with me that on July 1st their 'Soulful Saturdays will be hosting their grand 500th live musical show event .
