Sensational Sri Lankan mega-star singer-rapper Yohani Diloka De Silva is super-thrilled with her latest Indian popularity – Chaitanya Padukone

The exuberant Yohani who has now managed to grasp some Hindi phrases and words, has now conquered the hearts of millions Indie-pop & Hindi film-music-lovers The female version of the melodious Hindi title track of ‘Shiddat’ movie sung lovingly in her sensuous yet angelic crisp signature-style by Yohani has garnered over ten million views .

The soulful track ‘Kismat Banaa Loon—Meri Chaahat Banaa Loon’, is composed by songwriter Mannan Bhardwaj.

‘Shiddat: Journey Beyond Love’ is a 2021 Hindi romance drama film directed by Kunal Deshmukh and co-produced by Bhushan Kumar and Dinesh Vijan. The film stars Sunny Kaushal, Radhika Madan, Mohit Raina and Diana Penty.

The dynamic Yohani has completely exploded on the internet and created a mega-buzz with her own cover version of 2020 Sinhala romantic soulful serenade-song Manike Mage Hithe (it means ‘Baby Sweetheart in My Heart’).

Not only millions of Indians, NRIs and foreigners but our own celebrities too are humming and swaying to the soothing seductive tune even as they are trying to figure out the alien yet peppy romantic Sinhala lyrics.

Bollywood superstars Amitabh Bachchan, Tiger Shroff, Madhuri Dixit Nene and Priyanka Chopra Jonas and of course her fellow-country ( Sri Lankan) actress Jacqueline Fernandez have reportedly joined the Yohani-addicts list.

The same song was originally sung by Satheeshan Rathnayaka. Released in May 2021, Yohani’s version garnered over a whopping 150 million views.

The 28-year-old lively singer with her caressing wide-range gaayaki recently performed live in Hyderabad (India) at a sell-out concert.

She is thrilled with the overwhelming responses, even as various ( over 12 ) Indian regional language cover-versions of that song are already flooded onto the internet .

The video song also marked the first major breakthrough viral marketing in Sri Lanka.

The crowning achievement of internet tsunami Yohani,’s popularity in India was when she appeared as a celeb-guest on the Weekend Ka Vaar episode of Bigg Boss-15.

Where the 28-year-old singer was asked by mega-star BB host Salman Khan to sing (with him) her viral cover of the track Manike Maghe Hithe.

The music-savvy Salman is seen struggling with the pronunciation of a few words in the Sinhala song, after which both Salman and Yohani burst out laughing.

Before meeting Salman Khan, the modest Yohani had her “Star-Struck” fan-girl moment with Bollywood star-actress and fellow ‘Sinhalese’ Jacqueline Fernandez.

She shared pictures from their meeting and wrote: “Starstruck.” The candid Yohani has reacted that Priyanka Chopra sharing her song was “crazy” and also declared that she wishes to collaborate with Indian composers and singers.

Earlier, during an interview, Yohani had disclosed about her love for Bollywood music and films.

While she seems to have a fan-crush on Tiger Shroff , her favourite Bollywood movie songs include ‘Pehla Nasha’, which she often listens to.

It is quite possible that besides ‘playback-songs’ contracts, Yohani also gets ‘acting’ offers.

But whether she consents to be a vivacious ‘singing-actress’ on the big-screen in Bollywood, is what remains to be seen.
