“My fondest memories of celebrating EID are with my friends where we used to make sure to catch up for lunch every year without fail. There would be a buffet laid of different food items which I love gorging on, but due to the lockdown this year it won’t be possible to visit them. Hence, this year I plan to wake up early, wear a kurta, cook something sweet and video call all my friends and celebrate the festival. As a child, my dad used to take us all to visit his best friend and family where they served us meethi sevaiyaan with kesar and lots of dry fruits which were truly delicious. “Back home in Kolkata, I used to remember keeping the Roza but nowadays due hectic schedules I have been unable to keep up with it. Although in Mumbai, I used to love feasting on various delicacies put up at stalls on Mohammed Ali Road. Due to the lockdown, the same was impossible this year. Since I love Mughlai dishes, I have been taking few lessons from YouTube and preparing them. This Eid, I will try preparing a delicacy too. “My fondest memories of Eid began when I had moved to a new place and met this pretty little girl who was my age then by the name Noorja. We both bonded so well that one day she took me to her place where she offered me Seviyan. When asked for the reason Noorja told me that today is EID and hence we make this dish as a mark of our celebration, that’s the day when I started to celebrate EID every year from then. This year as we are facing difficult times, I am planning to make extra Seviyan where I can share it my neighbours and brighten their day.”

 

Ishita Ganguly from ‘Jag Jaanani Maa Vaishno Devi – Kahani Mata Rani Ki’

 The talented actresses who is essaying the role of Maa Kali in the show is going to celebrate EID in a different way this year where she says, “I am planning to video call my friends who I used to go and celebrate the festival of EID with every year. I am also planning on making Sheer Khurma which is one of my favourite dishes that I love to have during EID. I would like to wish each and every one, ‘Eid Mubarak’, May you remain safe and enjoy the occasion with your family.”

 

Vineet Raina who essayed the role of Rahu Kaal on ‘Meri Gudiya’ shares his thoughts on Eid celebration during quarantine,

“Eid is just around the corner but unfortunately due to quarantine, I will have to enjoy the festival of Eid by cooking my favourite recipes of Biryani and Sheer Kurma and virtually connect with my friends and share the love and joy of the festival with them. It will be a digital feast for me this year but it just one more reason to connect with close friends and wish for their well-being. One of my fondest Eid memories is the time I used to stay in Jogeshwari and my friends used to get Biryani and Sheer Kurma at my place. I want to wish my fans a happy and prosperous Eid. May all their wishes get fulfilled and get to celebrate this auspicious occasion with their family.”
