Story of the show 'Gud Se Meetha Ishq' and my character as a female tourist guide is giving a positive message to the society, was the reason I chose this show - Pankhuri Awasthi

Star Bharat is back again with a new fiction show 'Gud Se Meetha Ishq' where the lead actress will be seen as a tourist guide who will beat the stereotypes inherent in this male dominated society.

Actress Pankhuri Awasthi has been roped in for this important role, who has played many such strong characters before. Some key excerpts from the exclusive conversation with actress Pankhuri Awasthi about her character:

1. You have played many challenging characters before, so what was so special about the character of Kaju, that made you choose it?

The upcoming show 'Gud Se Meetha Ishq' on Star Bharat has the audience excited to see something new and different about the show's love story. I feel that I had to showcase my versatility as I faced a lot of challenges throughout my career.

The first thing that draws me towards any character is what message it conveys through its role, and this role of mine as Kaju is a very challenging in which I, being a girl had to defy all the stereotypes of the male-dominated society and sternly live up to establish my own identity as a tour guide and also plays a character that I have never portrayed before.

This character also encourages other girls to not give up on their dreams and to pursue them instead. I also believe that I’ve accepted the challenge very sportingly and with enthusiasm.

2. What's special for the audience in the show 'Gur Se Meetha Ishq'?

In the show Gud Se Meetha Ishq, you will get to witness the story of two girls who are different from each other but both shares a similar purpose of establishing their own identity following their dreams and overcoming all sorts of obstacles that are coming on their way.

Along with this, you will also see glimpses of sweet love stories that strikes on their way making it a very “Meetha” show for the audience to witness.

3. How does it feel to play a female tourist guide for the first time?

I feel completely elated while playing the role of a female tour guide which is quite bizarre/ unusual and different that drove me immensely towards it as I’ve never played anything similar before.

4. What kind of special preparation have you done for your character? Like have taken inspiration from a particular character or learned the dialect there?

As I prepared for the character kaju, I feel that I had to specifically prepare myself to inculcate the exact diction of the ‘Pahari’ tone in order to deliver the dialogues fluently.

5. Tell us something about the shooting of this show which took place in prominent places of Uttarakhand, how was your experience?

The first schedule of the show was shot at Uttarakhand in Mussoorie near a place called Lakhamandal which I feel was beautiful beyond words.

The shots were usually taken in a pandav temple situated in Lakhamandal. It was a very surreal feeling shooting amidst the mountains and calming weather.

6. How do you strike a balance between your married life and your profession?

I think it’s very simple to maintain the balance as long your partner should is supportive and understanding.

Since both of us are actors we understand each other and our professional lives very well. Also my husband always stood like a backbone and supported me in every way.

7. What is one quality that helped you become a better artist during your career?

I believe that my honesty towards work and constant perseverance has helped me become a better artist. Besides this, I also feel that constant trying and not giving up at the same time will definitely help you become a better artist.

8. How are you keeping yourself fit these days?

Since I don’t get enough time for my workout sessions due to my packed schedule, I had to cut short my diet and eventually added onto more liquids in it. I also included more fruits in my diet and maintained a perfect sleep timings schedule.

9. What similarities do you see between Pankhuri and Kaju?

The major similarity between Pankhuri and kaju I feel is that they share the same notion of being goal oriented and following their own dreams and not stepping back may what come.

I also feel that kaju and pankhuri shares the same nature and personality in terms of being an introvert and an extrovert.

10. How is your bond with Ishaan and Meera on the sets of Gud Se Meetha Ishq show?

The bond that I share with Ishaan and Meera has been fantastic since day 1 of knowing each other as friends. I am very happy and feel blessed to be around such actors.

Post shoot we also used to go and chill in Mall Road and enjoyed the local cuisine and mouth watering food such as ‘Garam Doodh’ and ‘Jalebis’.

I also feel that everyone on the set is very warm and loving including the entire team of Gud Se Meetha Ishq.
