On completion of thirty years of Saudagar, showman Subhash Ghai shared a unique anecdote related to the Filmfare Award

Raj Kumar and Dilip Kumar, bringing two legendary actors together on the same set and making a film with them, and releasing that film in a big way, could have been done by none other than showman Subhash Ghai.

Saudagar was one such film released in 1991, whose songs, acting, dialogues were all such a hit that the song 'Imli Ka Buta Beri Ka Ber, Imli Khatti Meethi Ber' was so much Famous.

Along with these veteran actors, Subhash Ghai also gave lead roles to two newcomers' Vivek Mushran and Manisha Koirala in the film.

Today this film has completed thirty years. This film of two great actors was released on the morning of 9 August 1991, which was made possible by a great director 'Subhash Ghai' to bring it on screen.

Subhash Ghai reminisces, “ When I got the Filmfare award for the best director for my film  SAUDAGAR, the next day I asked veteran film-maker Hrishikesh Mukherjee who was then chairman jury of the Filmfare Award 1992,  “Sir Why did you choose me for the best director award for SAUDAGAR when there were many other big films nominated?

To this Hrishikesh Mukherjee smiled and said, “ The way you presented two veteran stars with two newcomers with equal ease as a director to narrate your classic story on-screen so effectively was Incredible for the jury and me “.

Subhash Ghai further says – “This comment of Rishi Da was more than that award for me.

Today Saudagar has completed thirty years, it is interesting that it is being liked continuously on TV after the theater in the last thirty years and is very popular even today.

We hope Saudagar will continue to be loved by the audience for centuries like this and will always remain an inspiration for new filmmakers.
