Mohanlal  is taking the legacy forward with Drishyam 2.Written and directed by Jeethu Joseph the sequel of 2013 hit film having  acclaimed both commercial and critical acclaim.

In a virtual press meet held yesterday cast and  director talked about the forthcoming release of Drishyam 2 on Feb19,2021- premiering on Amazon. And getting on board after almost seven years - Lipika Varma

The makers had planned for Theatricals release later they have decided to release the film through Amazon Prime Video.

The film features Mohanlal, Meena ,Ansiba Hassan and Esther Anil reprising their roles from the first film.

The Malayalam thriller was remade in Hindi with Ajay Devgan  and Tabu played the General of Police .

Superstar Mohanlal revealed the secret of his success for the last four decades crediting it to his directors he said, “It is a blessing to have gotten a storied filmography.

Adding further crediting his success to all his directors those he worked with he said, “I trust all my directors, writers colleagues and my fans.

It’s like magic for me to continue alluring my audiences until this day. Actually directors are using me and my craft to the best of my ability as an actor.

Mohanlal said, “A crime once done haunts forever. That’s the tagline of the film. I’m confident that the sequel of Drishyam will replicate the success of the original film; this changed the way the world looks at Malayalam cinema.

Drishyam was a huge success not just in Malayalam but also in different languages made. It was the first ever Indian movie made in Chinese.

Having acclaimed critical and commercial success, It has changed the way the world looks at Malayalam cinema.”

Mohanlal on challenges said, “The challenges are for Jeethu .He has to get the story  gripping.

For me it is simply to know what Georgekurty will do to protect his family. We were very focussed on this sequel as we wanted to bring back the audiences to the theatre.

Meanwhile Director Jeethu Joseph speak-

Director Jeethu Joseph is returning to direct the second Part of Drishyam in a virtual meeting  held recently  revealing the challenges he had to face, “I’m aware that making a sequel comes with baggage .There are going to be tremendous expectations."

Adding further he said, “After the first part, I thought there can be a sequel. In 2015, I started thinking about it. I was only being challenged on how can I keep the continuity of all the characters?”

About expanding the story in the second part the director reveals, “I felt the family trauma should be the central plot of the film.

The family is not professional killers, so they are unaware of handling the pressure, the on-going investigations. Every character will be a new one in the aftermath of the crime.“

Revealing a bit Jeethu updates,” The upcoming film delves deep into the aftermath as Georgekutty's family, who tries to come to terms with the crime.”

About the core changes Jeethu Joseph revealed, “It has been seven years, so there will be some changes for sure in each and every characters.

Being influenced by new conditions I thought of getting into society's thought process towards the family How would they look at the family accused of crime? Said Jettu Joseph.
