“My mother is my biggest cheerleader and also my hardest critic,” says Bhumi. So, whenever I do a project, I wait for its review. She is extremely honest and has given me the most constructive feedback time and again. When she likes my acting, she does something incredibly sweet and heartwarming.”

Bhumi adds, “When Dum Laga Ke Haisha released, right after the cast and crew screening, my mom and I came home, and she gave me a gold coin! It was her way of saying that mom liked my performance and she didn't have any notes. I remember hugging her and crying. Since that day, I have been waiting for when I would earn a gold coin from them for my work. This is the biggest reward for me.”

She adds, “So, when I did Saand Ki Aankh, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Sonchiriya, Lust Stories, Bala, Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, Badhaai Do and a few other projects, my mother gifted me this and it is It was bigger than the world for me. She did the same for the Bhakshak!”

Talking about her mother's emotional reaction to Bhakshak, Bhumi said, “My mother had tears in her eyes after the screening of the film, and seeing her, of course, I also cried. It reminded me of my Dum Laga Ke Haisha moment. I have never seen my mother so overwhelmed. We didn't talk at all during the return home. I think what she saw affected her deeply.”

She adds, “When we reached home she took out a gold coin and told me that she was waiting to give me the gold coin again. For an artiste like me, who works hard and works with great passion, to deliver a good performance, gestures like this are incredibly validating for me to choose such distinctive, diverse, and extremely risky roles.
